Job Description : Job Title: Equity and Community Engagement CoordinatorDepartment: Eastern Montana Area Health Education Center (AHEC)Reports To: Program Manager of AHECFLSA Status: Exempt, Full-TimeWage Range: $40,000-$62,500 annually; depending on number of years of transferrable experience and internal equity.SUMMARY: The Equity and Community Engagement Coordinator provides technical assistance, planning and support to existing multi-sector coalitions and advisory groups in rural and underserved communities. This position collaborates with the Montana Office of Rural Health/AHEC Community Planning Coordinator, Equity and Community Engagement Coordinators from other regional AHECs, Montana Public Health Institute and Eastern Montana AHEC director to develop health equity focused programming. This is a grant funded position and part of the CDC’s national initiative to address COVID-19 health disparities among high-risk and underserved populations. Classified as an Outreach Coordinator.ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Develop, implement, and evaluate health equity programming according to CDC/DPHHS grant standards and requirements.Serve as regional coordinator for 12 county region health equity taskforce.Facilitate and coordinate health equity and engagement strategies and plans, with a focus on building relationships with existing local multi-sector coalitions and advisory groups in rural and underserved communities.Engage in developing health equity focused strategies at the local level, including identifying trends and opportunities to grow equitable programming through analysis of AHEC program data.Develop and implement plan to increase program participation from rural and underserved communities.Facilitate and assist the AHEC program director in evaluating grant activities.Develop plans based on the results and findings of COVID after action reports.Build upon health equity focused strategies established during COVID by local public health and healthcare coalitions, groups, boards, and organizations.Increase collaboration among the community health assessments and plans developed by Critical Access Hospitals (CAH), Community Health Clinics (CHC) and Public Health (PH).Work with MORH/AHEC Health Equity Coordinator, MORH/AHEC Community Planning Coordinator, local/regional/state health equity councils to address social determinants of health (SDOH).Develop new partners in underserved/rural communities to promote equitable access and participation in AHEC programming.Knowledge of public health and healthcare systems and programs, social determinants of health and health equity required.Excellent written and oral communications skills required.Demonstrated ability to coordinate and facilitate large groups, multi-task and manage multiple projects and deadlines, and problem-solve in a positive and constructive manner.Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment required.Experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds required.Experience using social networking platforms, including Zoom and Teams, required.30% travel time, including some overnight travel will be required.QUALIFICATIONS to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
