Job Title: Evidence Technician
Reports To: Sheriff
Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Starting Salary Range: $40,000 – $50,000
Position Summary
The Evidence Technician assists in physical and digital evidence storage, retention, and disposal. Receives, stores, maintains accountability, and returns or disposes all property, evidence, and found property according to policy and procedure
Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintains accurate records of evidence storage and movement.
Maintains accountability for stored inventory.
Disposes, destroys, converts, and returns property or evidence as directed by proper authority.
May be responsible for storage, retention, and disposal of digital evidence, including body worn camera evidence.
Aids the Patrol and Investigations staff when submitting evidence into digital and physical storage.
Monitors disposition cases; researches and prepares documents.
Delivers evidence and/or testifies in court.
When a local declaration of emergency or disaster is declared by the Board of Commissioners, all Lake County employees may be required to work as a Disaster Service Worker.
Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Must be at least 18 years of age by date of hire.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
General office practices and procedures
Knowledge of routine software and business applications including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and databases
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Ability to learn and follow Lake County Government and Sheriff’s Office policies and procedures
Ability to learn state statutes, regulations, and Colorado rules of evidence
