Job Description : Job Description: Field Workers
FOOD SAFETY- Under the direction of the field supervisor, workers will perform duties such as, rodent abatement, clean fields of unwanted trash, sanitize equipment and may collect tissue samples of plant or soil.
Essential Functions:

Equipment Sanitation – Employee will engage in sanitizing farm equipment that has been used for the purpose of ground preparation, planting/transplanting, harvesting and post-harvest product in the field. This will be done by a de-mucking process or a full sanitation with anti-microbial sanitizers. As the equipment comes in o the sanitation pad, the attendant will need to move this equipment and make a record on the service performed on the cleaning log.
Equipment and driving activities: Workers may be required to operate tractors, trucks, vans, and other farm equipment during field operations as an incidental activity. Before any worker is required to operate any farm equipment, the worker will be instructed in the proper and safe operation of tractor. Workers will be required to drive Kubotas or ATV’s as well as operate equipment to move into the wash pad.
Technician Sample Collector-As a Sampler Collector you will tend to a variety of tasks that include but are not limited to; collect tissue samples for microbial assessments, soil fertility, and residue analysis.
Field Sanitation – Rodent abatement which includes tasks such as changing rodent traps, collecting trash and other ranch maintenance projects.
Crew Driver- Employee will drive workers to the work site, to the grocery store, and to the homesite.
Workers will bend and stoop to pick weeds. Workers are required to work in fields when plants are wet with dew or rain. Temperatures in the fields during the working hours can range from thirty-five (35 F) to over ninety-five (95 F) degrees.
Employees will be required to perform duties such as cleaning up the fields they are working in by, picking up trash, discarding of unwanted packing items such as boxes, packs or ties.
Employees will be required to abide by all people safety and food safety regulations and will be required to participate in ongoing safety trainings.

PIPE MOVER- As a Piper Mover, you will tend to a variety of tasks that includes but are not limited to; assembling and disassembling irrigation pipe, installing pipe, removing pipe, and other agriculture related tasks.
Essential Functions:

Responsible for assembling and disassembling irrigation pipe.
Ensures irrigation equipment is in working condition (splines, gasket, couplers, etc.)
Inspect irrigation equipment prior to operating.
Routinely operate a tractor carrying pipe.
Must have a strong sense for a safe and healthy work environment.
Must be familiar with Worker Protection Standard regulations and early entry interval requirements.

REPACK & HARVEST – Under the direction of the field supervisor, workers will perform duties such as Bin dump operator, case erecting, tote filling, and palletizing.
Essential Functions:

Bin Dump-Employee will engage in pushing bins around on the floor and sometimes load the bin dump with a pallet jack. They will be required to push the button to dump the bin and use a product rake to smooth out the flow of product.
Case Erecting-Employees will be required to build totes and feed the line.
Tote Filling: Employees will be required in filling and packing product into the cases and slide the cases along the roller conveyor.
Palletizing-Employees will engage in stacking totes onto pallets and banding them together, as well as move empty pallets into position while also using equipment to move full pallets.
Equipment and driving activities: Workers may be required to operate tractors, Forklifts, trucks, vans, and other farm equipment during operations as an incidental activity. Before any worker is required to operate any farm equipment, the worker will be instructed in the proper and safe operation of equipment. Workers will be required to operate equipment according to instructions and in a manner, that protects the operator, other workers, trees, crops and equipment. Repeated failure to obey operating and safety instructions may result in termination.
Crew Driver-Employee will drive workers to the work site, to the grocery store, and to the homesite.
Employees will be required to perform duties such as cleaning up the warehouse they are working in by, picking up trash, discarding of unwanted packing items such as boxes, packs or ties. Employees will be required to walk in front of machines weeding or discarding of unwanted items in the field, and/or moving pipe.
Employees will be required to abide by all people safety and food safety regulations and will be required to participate in ongoing safety trainings.

HARVEST – Under the direction of the field supervisor, workers will perform duties such as hand harvest, machine harvest, load totes, build totes, drive equipment, field QC, weed abatement in between crops such as spring mix and spinach commodities.
Essential Functions:

Hand Harvest-Employee will engage in harvesting by hand or with use of hand tools for soil grown crops (Mature Kale, Romaine). This does not include any type of harvest done by machine or any other type of mechanical device. Hand harvest consists of manually gathering or severing the crop from the soil, stems, or roots, at its growing position in the fields. Employees will be required to bunch and tie product in some manner or place loosely in a bins, cartons, or other packaging.
Machine Harvest -Employee will engage in harvesting by machine. This includes any type of harvest done by machine or any other type of mechanical device. When harvesting by machine, the duties could include filling totes, bins, or cartons, load totes, bins or cartons by stacking on top of each other and building boxes in field or inside a packing facility.
Equipment and driving activities: Workers may be required to operate tractors, Forklifts, trucks, vans, and other farm equipment during field operations as an incidental activity. Before any worker is required to operate any farm equipment, the worker will be instructed in the proper and safe operation of tractor. Workers will be required to operate tractors according to instructions and in a manner, that protects the operator, other workers, trees, crops, and equipment. Repeated failure to obey operating and safety instructions may result in termination. Properly licensed workers may be requested to transport workers.
Crop Weeding -Employee will engage in the removal of unwanted weeds not sown and not desired in between leafy green commodities, Mature Kales and Romaine as needed. Hand weeding fields will be a significant portion of the work required. Workers will be required to remove weeds by hand. Workers will bend and stoop to pick weeds. Workers are required to work in fields when plants are wet with dew or rain. Temperatures in the fields during the working hours can range from thirty-five (35 F) to over ninety-five (95 F) degrees.
Crew Driver-Employee will drive workers to the work site, to the grocery store, and to the homesite.
Employees will be required to perform duties such as cleaning up the fields they are working in by, picking up trash, discarding of unwanted packing items such as boxes, packs or ties. Employees will also assist in planting & transplanting workers crops.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Employees will be required to walk stand, kneel, stoop, and bend extensively. Employee must be able to use hand tools, including cutting knives and shears. Employees must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions, including rain, cold, heat, and high winds. Employees must be able to work in temperatures that can range from 30 degrees. Fahrenheit to over 100 degrees Fahrenheit during the time of employment. Work is performed based on weather temperatures, employees must be able to work in the day, evening, or nights. Employees will be exposed to dusty conditions, exposed to mud, and other natural elements. This work may entail exposure to plant pollens, insects, and noxious plants. At times, the fields and crops will be treated with insect and/or disease control sprays, employees will be required to abide by the Worker Protection Standards and re-entry times.

QUALIFICATIONS

3 months of experience harvesting crops, on commercial farm
Must be at least 18 years of age
Legally authorized to work in the United States
