Summary

As a Global Investigator at Carhartt, you will be responsible for any employee matter that may be a potential violation of law or company policy. The responsibility of the Global Investigator is to conduct a prompt, thorough, and unbiased investigation comprising of background research, investigative interviews, and debrief meeting in partnership with Legal, HR, and the business. Success in this role will require working effectively across geographical boundaries while addressing systemic issues revealed during the investigation. The Global Investigator must be able to articulate issues to the business in the form of findings and conclusions so that long-term solutions can be developed and applied.

Responsibilities

Leads complex investigations end-to-end, including conducting intake meetings, background research, investigative interviews, and debrief meetings

Investigate complaints involving violations of law or policy, including allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, bullying, workplace violence, fraud, and associate misconduct

Analyze and document relevant evidence

Writes comprehensive, coherent, and proficient investigative reports that meet legal and regulatory presentation requirements (e.g., courtroom proceedings, governmental agency proceedings) and ability to testify to those findings

Conducting and directing interviews of direct and indirect witnesses and presenting findings to leadership and legal

Provide timely communication to all relevant parties throughout investigations process

Develop trust, rapport, and influence among partners and business leaders

Partner cross-functionally with Legal, HR, and the businesses to conduct a prompt, thorough, and unbiased investigations

Help to develop long-term solutions for systemic issues

Simultaneously manage multiple cases

Promote and support investigative process, company culture, policies, procedures, mission, code of conduct; ensuring compliance with them and utilizing and supporting the Associate Hotline.

Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience required in Human Resources or Related Field
Required Skills and Experience
Bilingual in Spanish preferred
Minimum 5+ years’ experience in conducting internal employee investigations (e.g. Conducting root cause analyses, claims investigations, or investigating violations of policies)
Ability to receive and manage confidential/sensitive information with the highest level of integrity
Expert in interviewing and interrogation techniques
Experience identifying relevant legal issues
Experience summarizing and documenting investigations findings and recommendations, and presenting those findings and recommendations to leadership
Natural disposition to be a self-starter, problem solver, and work with minimal supervision
Desire to interact with many different functions of the business
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to prioritize work in order of importance and with strong organizational skills
Technology oriented and proficient with MS Office
Prefer Wicklander-Zulawski and/or Reid Technique certifications
Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) desired
Working Conditions
Willing to work some weekends if necessary
Travel (30%)
Remote location: Associate will have no regular requirement to be on-site. Travel on-site is limited to special events.
