Job Overview:
This position is grant funded and is scheduled for 30 hours per week.
The Grant Support Technician for the DNRC Forestry Division is responsible for completing vital administrative and fiscal tasks associated with grant administration and providing technical assistance to grantees and program personnel, utilizing knowledge of federal grant administrative requirements, state procurement laws, government accounting, auditing, technical writing, and digital budget, accounting, and grants management systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Grant Administration, Monitoring and Technical Assistance:
Review and audit grantee disbursement requests and supporting documentation to ensure that payment is warranted and in compliance with federal and state grant requirements. Monitor expenses in CGS, SABHRS, and grants management system to verify activity.
Analyze, evaluate, and document grant data, including accomplishment reports and accounting records, in order to meet state and federal monitoring and reporting requirements. This includes creating, implementing, and maintaining grant management and tracking systems and tools, managing, and analyzing large amounts of data, identifying, and correcting discrepancies, and resolving problems in coordination with grantees and other DNRC staff.
Prepare grant agreements accurately, completely, and in conformity with existing rules and requirements.
Participate in the ongoing review and revision of Forestry Division policy, procedures, forms, and manuals regarding the administration of grants and monitoring of grantees. Promote the consistent use of best practices throughout DNRC’s grant programs.
Provide training and technical assistance to internal and external participants in Forestry grant programs: serve as an administrative point of contact for grantees, including individuals, non-profit organizations, communities, local and tribal governments, private businesses, and other state or federal agencies; explain and clarify federal regulations, state requirements, and division policies; instruct others in the use of a division grants management system.
Participate in risk assessments on grantees and carry out monitoring procedures to assess the soundness of grantees’ administrative and fiscal operations and verify compliance with extensive federal and state grant requirements.
Program Support and other duties as assigned:
Providing general support for other Forestry Division programs during periods of peak activity, managing special projects, attending meetings and conferences, participating in ongoing training and educational programs, and other duties as directed by supervisor.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):
2 years job-related college or vocational and 1 to 2 years of job-related work experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The required knowledge, skills, and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associates Degree in business or public administration or a related field, and one to two years progressively responsible experience including grant or contract administration, accounting, or auditing.
SPECIAL INFORMATION: Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States. A valid driver’s license is required with less than 12 conviction points in the most recent completed 36 months.

ELIGIBILITY TO WORK: In accordance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act, the person selected must produce within three days of hire documents that show authorization to work in the United States. Examples of such documentation include a birth certificate or Social Security card along with a driver’s license or other picture I.D., or a U.S. passport, or a “green card”.
