Position : Head Lifeguard – Southwest Valley YMCA
Job Description : Do you love swimming? Are you looking to have an unforgettable career? At the YMCA, we are looking for role models like you to join one of our 15 branches as a Lifeguard.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF A HEAD LIFEGUARD:
Leads the lifeguard team to meet operational needs of the pool and fulfill YMCA objectives.
Assists aquatic supervisor in recruiting, hiring, and training of lifeguards and junior lifeguards.
Works with aquatic supervisor to ensure lifeguard expenses fall within the department budget.
With aquatic supervisor, create the lifeguard schedule, incorporating time for breaks and cleaning.
Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or Health Department code.
This is not an exhaustive list of job duties. Other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned.
REQUIREMENTS TO BE A HEAD LIFEGUARD:
Minimum age of 17.
Minimum of one year working as a lifeguard; preferably with the YMCA.
Current Lifeguard and Swim Instructor Certification.
Ability to relate to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Ability to think in the abstract, solve problems, and make quick decisions under stress.
Have adequate memory skills to be able to retain and apply lifeguard training knowledge.
Must be observant, safety conscious, and able to react calmly and quickly in an emergency.
