Job Description : *Job Description-High School Academic and Post-Secondary Advisor – Fall 2022*
Description: The High School Post-Secondary Coordinator supports students in developing skills and navigating pathways to achieve their college and/or career goals. Through partnership development, relationship building, and information research and dissemination, this position will design and implement strategic initiatives and programs to support students and families in exploring and understanding all possible post-secondary education and career opportunities. This position will act as a liaison between Pinnacle Charter School and students, families, and community partners. This position maintains positive inter-personal relationships with students, parents, peers, and community members and provides the best possible opportunities for student development and growth, both educationally and personally.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to: High School PrincipalDirect Reports: This is a non-supervisory position
Compensation: This is a full-time, 209-day position. Salary is dependent on education and years of experience in similar roles. Please see the 209-Day Employee Salary Schedule on the school website. See a detailed outline of benefits and additional compensation at the bottom of the job description.
Essential Functions: Post-Secondary Advising:

Develop a high-level post-secondary program, providing strategic alignment of college and career initiatives across all grade levels.
Develop partnerships with local business/organizations for student job shadows, mentoring, work-based learning, apprenticeships, and internship opportunities.
One-on-one academic advising with high school students with a 3.7+ GPA and all 12th grade students.
Develop partnerships with college/university programs and other organizations to support families with resources, academic support, social integration and post-secondary preparation.
Provide quality support, information, communication, and events to students and parents through workshops, seminars, presentations, and individual meetings on post-secondary topics (e.g. career exploration and opportunities, financial aid, college application process, financial literacy, study skills, etc.)
Collaborate with school counselors to support students in meeting graduation requirements and skills development necessary to achieve post-secondary goals through one-on-one and small group advising sessions including but not limited to providing students with feedback and conducting student data analysis (e.g. ICAP, CAPSTONE, etc.).
Collaborate with high school staff to facilitate new-student orientations.
Update the annual school profile.
Support students with transition workshops (e.g. study skills, time management, financial literacy, etc.)
Use electronic student data systems (e.g. SCOIR) to track and maintain student data including college applications, scholarships, etc.
Track and utilize student data to monitor post-secondary trends among Pinnacle alumni.
Provide reports to principals, CAO, and School Board.
Understand and stay apprised of graduation requirements for each graduating class; collaborate with counselors and registrar to ensure student progress toward graduation requirements.
Facilitate Accuplacer and ASVAB testing logistics.
Assist with the coordination of high school graduation.
Work closely with the Career Pathways and School Programs Coordinator at CSI.

Family Outreach

Work closely with K-12 staff, parents, and local community to increase parent involvement in school activities and initiatives.
Coordinate, organize, and facilitate activities and events (e.g. open house, parent/teacher conferences, post-secondary workshops, community resource fairs, parent meetings, etc.) to support parent involvement in student education and post-secondary opportunities.
Develop initiatives and activities to disseminate information to parents about educational systems and post-secondary college and career opportunities.
Collaborate with parents to develop events and parent meetings regarding topics of importance and relevant to parent needs.

Concurrent Enrollment/ASCENT

Lead, execute and increase participation in Concurrent Enrollment (CE) and ASCENT programs.
Increase awareness of CE and ASCENT for all students, parents and staff.
Align concurrent enrollment requirements with other programs such as Individual Career & Academic Plan (ICAP) and graduation guidelines.
Provide support and direction to CE instructors.

Career and Technical Education

Assist CTE instructors in developing and maintaining active Advisory Committees.
Prepare and submit reports required for the Colorado Community College Systems (CCCS) and Charter School Institute (CSI).
Promote post-secondary pathway opportunities by meeting with post-secondary partners; and by gathering, submitting, and disseminating information regarding concurrent enrollment credit.
Assist with CTE budget including Perkins Grant.
Assist with CTA reporting to seek reimbursement from the state.

Additionally:

Be present and engage in Pinnacle functions and organizations to build strong relationships with students, parents, peers, and the community.
Maintain and deepen current educational learning on an ongoing basis.
This position will require some night and weekend work.
Regular and timely attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions: Exposure/Noise Level: Occasional exposure to airborne particles, fumes, and outdoor weather conditions.
