Position : HR Employee Relations Specialist
Job Description : Brown and Caldwell (BC) seeks a full-time HR professional to provide key support on employee relations (ER) and compliance related responsibilities. This is a unique opportunity to help create a new, centralized function focused on supporting employee wellness and performance. In this role you will work closely with the Sr. Director, ER & Compliance and other HR team members and will interact directly with employees, supervisors, and managers across the company. You will help develop and implement ER best practices and programs. You will lead and manage ER investigations and provide coaching and guidance on performance/work related issues and make recommendations to senior leadership.
Detailed Description:
This role can be 100% remote or filled near any BC location with a preference of Denver, CO; Saint Paul, MN, or Nashville, TN.
The successful candidate will be a positive, self-motivated and responsive person who enjoys employee relations, is customer service oriented and operates with a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Ensure the Company’s treatment of employees is consistent with its core business values, objectives, and policies
Interpret and ensure compliance with current company policies and procedures to promote consistency in decision-making
Partner with Sr. Director, Employee Relations & Compliance, HR Team and senior business stakeholders to develop and implement Employee Relations best practices and programs, including managing performance issues
Investigate and resolve complex or critical employee relations issues in a timely and effective manner
Handle employee complaints, manage grievance procedures and facilitate counseling in conjunction with other stakeholders
Coach and provide support to supervisors and managers in addressing performance issues including drafting performance warnings and improvement plans and preparing supervisors for conversations with employees; track issues and follow up with supervisor on a consistent basis
Manage and provide oversight of involuntary separations preparing leaders for staffing actions and conversations
Analyze ER/performance management data and report trends/themes on a regular basis and provide recommendations to the business and HR team to help develop or improve solutions, programs, processes and policies to generate more positive outcomes
Maintain and update records/documentation in various systems
Leverage related standard templates, scripts, policy manuals, HR knowledge base, and other reference materials and resources
Suggest and implement improvements and updates to processes and tools
Participate in the planning and launch of new policies and updates to the employee handbook
Partner with and seek input or support from internal Brown and Caldwell Legal, Health & Safety, and Digital Services departments
Assist with other Human Resources related duties and tasks as requested
Occasional travel may be required
Desired Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Human Resources or Business Administration) or equivalent experience required
5 or more years of experience in employee relations and performance management or other related Human Resources role required
Strong knowledge of HR policies, programs, and procedures along with employment legislation required; familiarity with updating employment policies a plus
Outstanding customer service skills and a bias towards action with strong attention to detail and ability to handle conflict and difficult conversations in a positive and mature manner
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, work remotely/independently, make recommendations/problem solve, manage multiple projects/tasks and competing/changing priorities
Excellent coaching and negotiating/influencing skills
Strong written/verbal communication skills
Experience working in a highly matrixed organization
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
Ability to sit, stand, and use office equipment
Ability to travel nationally, on as needed, occasional basis
PHR or SHRM-CP preferred
Colorado Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $71,000 – $105,000 annually and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
