Job Description : Purpose and Scope of PositionThe Human Resources Business Partner consults on employee relations issues/EEO/AA compliance, recommends solutions to performance management issues, and assists in developing/interpreting and applying HR policies to help employees move through organizational change.This position is responsible for the development, growth, delivery and measurement of core skill learning programs, management, leadership, system training, continued associate development and new hire related initiatives. This position will lead the WDS Training and Development Committee and assess company-wide developmental needs in alignment with organizational strategy to drive training initiatives and identifies and arranges suitable training solutions for employees.Organizational RelationshipThis position reports the VP of Human ResourcesDuties and ResponsibilitiesActs as advisor and coach to managers as needed which includes policy interpretation, conflict resolution, and performance management/improvement casesPromptly and thoroughly conducts and manages mid-high level workplace investigations of employee complaints and grievances with systematic approach to address root causes, develop and recommend actions and countermeasures, and effectively conclude investigations by facilitating a review of the decision with appropriate stakeholders and close out of actions and countermeasures.Keeps detailed documentation and follows case management and tracking protocolsServes as escalation point and reviewer for employment separations, position eliminations, and restructures (individual and group/mass layoffs)Facilitate performance management/coaching discussions as requested by management.Review and administer performance improvement plans and corrective action plans.Investigate employee complaints regarding HR policies and practices and allegations violating policies. Recommend appropriate courses of action to management.Promote a positive employee relations work environment in partnership with managers and ensure open and timely communications and interventions.Assist in designing and implementing HR policies/guidelines and programs and communicates changes to managers. Provide policy interpretation and conflict resolutions to all employees in accordance with relevant employment laws.Assist in assessing departmental training and development needs and delivers training to enhance employees’ skills and improve workplace satisfaction.Serve as liaison with management and may report on findings to investigations. Participates in audit by compliance agencies as needed.Creates, executes, and manages overall L&D strategy and plan in alignment with key priorities for the organization.Create and execute learning strategies and programs for WDS, to include, but not limited to: Managerial (i.e. delegation, motivation, feedback, etc…), Leadership, Performance Management, EEO, Sexual Harassment, Diversity, Workplace Violence, Benefits, Soft Skills (i.e. ownership, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, time management, business etiquette, etc…)Conducts annual organizational needs assessment and identifies learning needs and/or solutions to address skills, knowledge, competency, and performance gaps building strong partnerships with managers across WDS, both in corporate headquarters and field operations.Researches, recommends, develops, and oversees design, delivery and assessment of learning programs, events, and curricula.Develops appropriate learning content and instructional materials in collaboration with key subject matter experts and stakeholders.Tracks, measures, and ensures effectiveness of learning initiatives and programs.Develops and maintains quality standards in learning products and services (delivery, design, measures and reporting).Creates sound maintenance plans to keep learning products and services current.As required, facilitates both classroom and on-line learning solutions.Required QualificationsProven experience with at least 5+ years of experience in employee relations and developing L&D functions at a corporate level.BS/BA in Industrial/Organizational Psychology or a related fieldMaster’s degree preferredExperience working in a start-up environmentProven self-starter (must be able to operate independently but understand when to escalate issues)Strategic, data-driven thinker, able to recommend solutionsProven competency in application of Adult Learning Theory, requiredStrong knowledge of training methodologies (Traditional: E-learning, Web-based), requiredAbility to design and implement effective training and development.Experience in project management and budgetingProficient LinkedIn Learning PlatformsDemonstrates ability to inclusively collaborate and develop/maintain working relationships insides and outside the organization to enable effective completion of business objectives.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Personality CharacteristicsKnowledge of wildland fire training is a plusExcellent stakeholder management and executive presence with the ability to partner and develop relationships with senior level leadershipExperience developing and executing strategic plansAbility to influence and network effectively, establishes credibility quickly, build strong relationships with peers, stakeholders, and key client partnersExcellent project management skills with the ability to work in a dynamic environmentAbility to collaborate across different levels of the organization, including senior levelsWildfire Defense Systems, Inc. provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
