The starting pay for this position is $67,600 – $82,576

Position Summary:

We are a growing, evolving HR team, committed to providing HR services that focus on improving the employee experience and help attract, retain, and reward high performing employees at all levels of the organization. We are looking for someone who is able to identify opportunities for improved service and process efficiency, and who is willing to roll up their sleeves and make it happen. For the right candidate, this is a fantastic opportunity to learn how the city operates and participate in a wide variety of HR work and projects to help grow and develop a broad HR skillset.
The Human Resource Generalist will work on a variety of tasks and projects, with the goal of delivering an exceptional employee experience. This person will help employees connect to resources that they need, provide clarity on city policies and programs, support employee and labor relations tasks, onboard new employees, facilitate training, conduct exit interviews, and partner with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) to support annual processes such as year-end performance
Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Generalist will also be involved in the implementation of the Core HCM Workday module, providing thought leadership to enhance and improve business processes and participating in testing and deployment for releases.
Key
R
esponsibilities:
Support the effective integration of HR processes, programs, and practices into daily operations.
Ensure that HR activities and programs are aligned with the city’s culture and values
Help drive the onboarding and orientation process for all new hires
Act as engaged project leader and/or member on city-wide HR initiatives
Support and champion organizational change initiatives and assist employees with questions related to transition
Partner with the city’s 3rd-party administrator to manage and respond to unemployment claims
Conduct exit interviews, analyze findings, and advise management accordingly
Support annual employee engagement events
“Flex” to support various HR centers of excellence during times of high volume or need:
Assist in Recruiting activities during times of high-volume seasonal hiring
Coordinate and support a successful process during Labor negotiations
Partner with the Total Rewards team on annual benefits open enrollment activities
Work with the broader HR Operations team to support special projects
Create and/or facilitate learning and development content and programs
Support enterprise-wide HR initiatives and projects as needed
Minimum
Qualifications
and Experience
:
Three years of professional HR experience and knowledge of applicable federal and state employment laws.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field and/or equivalent experience.
Possesses a working knowledge of Human Resources practices, procedures, and employment laws and regulations.
Ability to develop positive, productive relationships, cultivating mutual respect and trust
Objectivity and critical reasoning skills; the ability to see both sides of a situation and make a determination.
Agility, flexibility and a willingness to jump in and learn new things
Ability to synthesize complex information and provide timely and consistent follow-up with stakeholders.
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced, dynamic environment. Strong team player who demonstrates resiliency and flexibility to support changing work priorities
Champions diversity and respects individual perspectives, backgrounds, and opinions.
Acts with integrity, works collaboratively and embraces innovation and continuous improvement
Preferred Qualities and Experience
:
One years’ experience as an HR Generalist.
SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR.
Human Resources experience in a union environment.
Employee relations experience.
Compensation and Benefits
:
The hiring range for the HR Generalist is $67,600 – $82,576 and will depend on the qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is in Colorado, as such, employment in this position is subject to the labor and employment laws of the state of Colorado
