Job Description : What can I expect to do in this role?
To provide support to the research, development, policy transfer and promotion of information management and associated tools, techniques and standards for the Ministry of Natural Resources. Provides support on data management, data sharing and data governance. Including the development of data and analytical tools in support of NRF’s Data Management Policy; of the work of Open Government (Digital and Data Directive, 2021); and the Ontario Digital Strategy.

The intern will provide support to the following activities:
Researching relevant MNR, OPS or other public sector IM framework and data management policies standards and directives (OPS and MNR) and assist with developing new ones if requiredResearching and reviewing IM recommendations in recent program reviewsInterviewing / consulting with various IM specialists within MNR to assist in the identification of gaps or barriers related to implementing the objectives set out in Our Sustainable FutureAssisting in implementing the MNR information management strategyUsing innovative techniques for promoting the IM best practices throughout MNR to demonstrate its value to all employeesDeveloping and communicating core competencies in information managementAssisting in the promotion of best practices in information and data management to protect MNR’s legal interests, meet the government’s goal of transparency and achieve efficiencies and cost savingsAssisting in records management projects
How do I qualify?
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of: research techniques and communication methods and practices, including writing styles, techniques and grammar, punctuation and spelling in order to research and write documents related to information and data management.

Knowledge of the Archives and Recordkeeping Act and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

Job requires knowledge of government information management policy and standard records and data management policies.

Knowledge of work responsibilities as outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

NOTE:
Successful candidates may be required to undergo an employment screening check in accordance with the Ontario Employment Screening Checks Policy.

Eligibility:Proof of eligibility to work in Canada;Has graduated or will graduate from an approved or legally authorized college or university with a diploma or degree in records management, information management, library and information studies, archival techniques or related program.Candidates are only eligible to participate in one MNRF 12-month placement and must not have participated in the MNRF internship program in the past.
OPS COVID-19 Safe Workplace Directive:
Effective October 1, 2021, the OPS COVID-19 Safe Workplace Directive requires all Ontario Public Service employees to provide proof they are fully vaccinated, meaning they are fully vaccinated as defined by the Ministry of Health (refer to: COVID-19 Fully Vaccinated Status in Ontario), including 14 calendar days have passed since receiving their final dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Employees who do not provide proof of full vaccination will be deemed ‘not vaccinated’ under the Directive and will be required to attend a vaccine education program and undergo regular rapid antigen testing. Employees who are not vaccinated under the policy with a valid medical exemption will not be required to attend a vaccine education program but must undergo regular rapid antigen testing.
