Job Description : Summary:
UCHealth is looking for positive, professional, mature, enthusiastic, flexible, and responsible individuals to become Hospital Information Operators.
Our Hospital Information Operators perform a variety of telephone and computer aided operational duties: including answering emergency phones lines for multiple hospitals and dispatching emergency medical teams to the appropriate location to treat patients suffering from various medical emergencies. We also assist the public with routine non-emergency calls to find medical care, speak with family members in the hospital, and to conduct a variety of business related actions. Hospital Information Operators serve as call takers and dispatchers. As a new Hospital Information Operator, you will receive individual hands-on training to answer both emergency calls and routine non-emergency calls in a communications center
To be successful, you must be fast to respond with direct and correct decisions, able to take charge of conversations, able to obtain accurate information from callers, enter information into a computer system while talking, demonstrate empathy to the caller, and maintain accurate records.
Rarely do individuals have the opportunity to be the calm in someone’s storm on a daily basis. Each day your calm voice, professional demeanor and specialized training will allow you to assist individuals who may truly be having the worst day of their lives.
Work Schedule: Set schedule but subject to occasional changes.
Responsibilities: Receives and relays internal and external calls and provides general information and customer service assistance. Maintains desk directories, on-call list, reference guides and other associated reference materials. Provides administrative support as needed. Operates beeper and paging system to contact hospital personnel and code team. Provides radio support for security and facilities. Communicates codes, alerts, drills and other announcements according to established policies and protocols, including disaster management plans. Monitors security cameras.
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
Requirements:
Minimum Required Education: High School diploma or GED. Required Licensure/Certification: None Required. Minimum Experience: None Required.
The pay range for this position is: $18.00 – $23.40 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant’s relevant experience.
An annual bonus may be paid to eligible employees based upon organizational and individual performance.
