Job Description : IT SUPPORT TECHNICIAN
SUMMARY OF FUNCTION
Provides a variety of information system administrative and support duties. Includes onsite analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex desktop problems for end users, and recommends and implements corrective solutions.
Conducts new employee orientation.
Performs a variety of functions in troubleshooting and resolving software and hardware concerns. Maintains, repairs, and installs computer hardware, software, and peripherals.
Performs configuration and support of wireless networks, all Cisco switching and support structures, Vmware software support install and configure, Windows, Linux and backup systems. Has knowledge of Subnets, and able to make technical decisions void of supervision.
Administer VoIP phone. Responsible for moves, adds, changes, analyzing and resolving problems, user setup and training.
Support/Assist IT team in monitoring, analyzing and repair of computer and peripheral problems, including servers, PC’s, laptops, tablets, printers and related equipment.
Provides technical analysis and research as required.
Coordinates Information Technology activities with other City departments, and other area agencies; provides training to users in applications supported by IT.
Evaluates operations and activities of assigned system responsibilities; recommends improvements and modifications.
Prepares documentation for new systems and changes to existing systems including system programs and user guides, end-user reviews, mobile wireless policies and procedures; ensure compliance with established standards and procedures.
Attends and participates in professional group meetings; stays abreast of new trends and innovations in information systems.
Provides training to end users for all modified and new systems.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Must be able to work well and get along with staff.
Must have knowledge of all aspects of job duties.
High School graduate or equivalent.
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or three (3) years of equivalent related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be A+ certified, Network+ certified.
Experience with Linux and Microsoft Activity Directory, Vsphere ESXi, Vcenter, and Horizion View.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to the IT Manager.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Deals with all computer users. On call evenings and weekends if necessary.

Pay: $19.18 – $29.59 per hour
