Job Description : If you are someone who thrives under pressure and likes a fast-paced environment…This is NOT the job for you!
The position is part-time, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from approximately 11am-6pm. The environment is very Zen and calm. You will administer a sub-anesthetic ketamine infusion to one patient at a time, every 1.5 hours of the shift. We typically have 4-6 patients per shift with hour and a half appointments each.
The infusions are accompanied by dim lighting, essential oils, guided meditations, and peace/quiet. We use an Alaris CareFusion pump and 22 gauge IV catheters. Must have amazing IV skills and be able to sit quietly for an extended period of time. Senses are heightened on ketamine and many patients do not like the sound of talking, shuffling through supplies/personal items, etc. The noise can be distracting to their experience, so we try to keep external stimuli at a minimum.
This is a great retirement job or a position for a nurse who likes a slow-paced, relaxing atmosphere. Excellent IV skills are a must and you will not survive at this position without them. Once you complete trainings, you will have your own office in a beautiful suite in Scottsdale. The office overlooks the mountains, and it will be your own domain. The provider will be onsite and readily available, but you can develop your own relationships with patients and your own flow in your office. You are the only RN administering infusions, so you must be able to start the IVs on your own. You do not have backup in that area.
Your malpractice/liability insurance is paid for by the employer. You’ll also have to complete training modules and supervised clinical practice prior to administering infusions independently. ACLS and BLS required. All training/supplemental education/supervision is paid at your normal hourly rate.
The ideal candidate will be extremely reliable and have an unencumbered Arizona state nursing license, ACLS, BLS, and confidence/competency in administering IV infusions.
