Job Description : The Laboratory Technician I performs pre-analytical processes and assists with the analytical procedures for patient testing.

Employment Status: Non Exempt
Location: Littleton, CO
Pay Range: $24-32
The following are intended to be examples of the accountabilities for which the person in this position is responsible. This position description is not intended to be complete or all-inclusive and does not preclude management from assigning other or related functions for which the individual has demonstrated competency through performance. Under constant and direct supervision of Clinical Laboratory Scientists:

Assists with processing for all test methods approved by CAP, NY and CLIA under Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) supervision.

Assists in process improvement activities such as quality, safety, document management and control, and proficiency testing.

May assist with the implementation of test methods from internal and external sources.

May interact with vendors on special projects such as test method validations and new equipment.

May participate in technical studies designed to improve or validate clinical laboratory testing methods.

Required to work closely with CLSs and report all problems to Lead, General Supervisor and/or Lab Director.

Assists with instrument maintenance and repair.

Performs preventative maintenance and calibrations on laboratory equipment and instruments.

Monitors reagent and supply inventory.

May prepare laboratory reagents and assay materials according to SOPs, standard laboratory recipes/formulas under CLS supervision.

Organizes patient specimen and assay worksheets/printouts for testing and CLS review.

Assists in writing Laboratory documents such as Standard Operating Procedures and departmental forms.

Required to follow all safety procedures, policies, precautions, and Quality Assurance.

Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

Requires BS or BA in a scientific field

0-3 years related experience or

0-1 year experience working in a CLIA/CAP environment

Qualification Requirements:

Strong data entry skills

Proficient in MS office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

The employee is regularly exposed to high pressure situations, and therefore, must be able to thrive in this type of environment.

Must be able to tolerate a moderate noise level.

Must be able to work an extended schedule as needed.
