Hours: 40 hours workweek (exempt)
Location: Washington, DC or Denver/Boulder, CO area
Salary range: $86,0000 – $130,000

Position Overview
This position will work with the Director of Strategic Communications to provide strategic communications support for the Market and Policy Innovation team on clean energy policy and electricity markets priorities, stakeholder engagement with key audiences, execution of communications strategies to build brand recognition and awareness, and management of media engagement. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in a cross-functional policy advocacy-related working environment, project management, and content development and can prioritize matters in a fast-paced environment.

Core Responsibilities:

Lead development of editorial content, including educational resources, advocacy letters, blogs, press releases, executive thought-leadership, Q&As, talking points, newsletters, social media content, and presentations.
Develop compelling narratives to advance core policy advocacy and energy market initiatives that align with energy transition discourse.
Distill complex clean energy policy and electricity markets concepts into plain language for a variety of audiences, including press, policymakers, and members at the state, regional and federal levels
Independently lead and execute advocacy campaigns to complement and supplement program priorities, including development of stakeholder engagement and analysis of impact through key metrics.
Provide leadership with counsel on strategic opportunities to position the organization as an expert voice on core energy policy and markets issues.
Project management of all communications activities for the Innovations program, including developing and managing the editorial calendar, executive support, website posting and media engagement.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree and 7+ years’ experience or equivalent professional experience

Additional:

Public relations, government affairs, or strategic communications experience, preferably with a trade association, agency, government office, clean energy company or corporation. Direct clean energy industry experience strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to distill complex policy and regulatory topics into compelling narratives.
Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver impactful advocacy campaigns with consistent messaging frameworks, complementary content, and strategic positioning of thought leadership.
Exceptional written and verbal communications skills with the ability to lead development of visual storytelling components.
Basic understanding of media engagement opportunities and processes.
Ability to generate original ideas/solutions to support organizational priorities.
Comfortable leading and facilitating group discussions effectively with different levels and functions in the organization.
Attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple processes and products simultaneously
Comfort with shifting areas of focus and prioritization rapidly to accommodate shifting policy landscape
