Job Description : The Mechanical Technologist is responsible for creating 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, mock-ups and prototypes based on concepts. The candidate will provide full-time support to the design team and will participate in product improvement efforts. This position requires proficiency in SolidWorks.Essential Duties & FunctionsModel parts, sub-assemblies and assemblies for drawings (2D and 3D).Accountable for production of drafting packages, including component details, cut lists, and bills of material.Develop finished drawings from general conceptual information and design notes.Review Customer Specifications and prepare preliminary designs in accordance with customer requirements.Maintain, Reduce and Improve proper fabrication costs and quality methods.Troubleshoot and resolve production drawing issues.Ensure all output of work orders are accurate and delivered in a timely manner.Assist in final inspection of finished products.Generate detailed parts listings for installation packages.Liaison with other departments, team members, and management, in the estimating, planning and execution of projects to ensure that the most efficient, and economical systems have been incorporated.On occasion, provide on-site assistance during estimating, installation and start-up.Communicate with others in a courteous, friendly manner.Ability to maintain good working relationships with customers, employees and industrial professionals.Perform other duties as assigned.Education and Skills RequiredDiploma in Industrial Design, Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology and Design, Engineering Design and Drafting Technology, or equivalent.Proficiency with 2D & 3D CAD (SolidWorks).Strong technical knowledge regarding machining and fabrication processes.Strong analytical skills and troubleshooting capabilities.Computer skills including working knowledge of Excel and other MS Office products.Ability to conceptualize design with an understanding of constructability.Creative and has the ability to work autonomous and part of a team.Clarity in written and verbal communication in a professional manner.Ability to build positive working relationships throughout the organization.Job Types: Full-time, PermanentBenefits:Dental careExtended health careOn-site parkingPaid time offVision careSchedule:8 hour shiftDay shiftMonday to FridayAbility to commute/relocate:Grassie, ON L0R1M0: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)Experience:Mechanical Technologist: 3 years (required)
