Job Description : Primary Job Purpose: To provide clerical/secretarial support for the Medical Records department of Eben Ezer with accountability to the Care Center Administrator.
*Customer Service: *Adherence to the MOSES program to include Mission, Ownership, Success, Excellence, and Service.
*Essential Job Functions: *

Practice the Values, the Mission, and Philosophy of Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center.
Compliant with the facilitys medical record policies and procedures.
Provides the highest level of customer service to a wide variety of internal and external customers.
Completes special projects as assigned.
Files medical record forms, charts, and data according to medical record department procedures. This includes working with the active chart, purged files, discharge charts, and office files and notebooks.
Purges current medical records and maintains purged files according to established procedures.
Stocks nurses stations with forms.
Collect and sort paperwork collected from neighborhoods.
Sort and package paperwork to go to physician clinics.
Assists in maintaining closed files, purged files, and other resident information and forms maintained in the medical record office or storage areas in a safe and secure manner and protects and maintains confidentiality of records.
Scan documents to be included in the electronic medical record.
Assists Medical Records Manager as needed.
Must maintain confidentiality of all work related information according to HIPAA regulations.
Assure resident rights, privacy and HIPAA regulations are followed.
In addition to the responsibilities described above, the role may include other responsibilities and duties as assigned on occasion, based upon Eben Ezer needs or requirements.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and Experience: Minimum of high school diploma. Clerical experience. Proficiency in computer software such as Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel required. Excellent telephone and organization skills necessary. Clerical, Medical Records and or healthcare experience strongly preferred.
*Non-Essential Job Functions: *May participate in Eben Ezer committees. Will attend facility meetings and department meetings as instructed.
*Other Skills and Abilities*:

Ability to manage time and resources effectively.
Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers.
Maintain punctuality when reporting to work and leaving work.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to think critically, be detail-oriented, work well with peers, work under supervision, handle multiple interruptions, and work on multiple tasks throughout the day.
Must have good writing and communication skills.

Material and Equipment used: General office equipment such as computers, fax, telephone, postage machine, scanner and copier.
Working Environment/Physical Activities: Employee works in an office environment. Employee sits, stands, bends, walks, reaches, lifts, pushing wheelchairs, keyboarding, and moves intermittently during working hours. Position is subject to frequent and varied interruptions. Must be able to push/pull up to 250 pounds regularly using a wheelchair. Must be able to lift 0-50 pounds regularly by self and 50+ pounds occasionally with assistance. Employee is subject to physically ill residents as well as hostile and emotionally upset residents and/or families.
*Working Hours: *This position is part-time. General office hours Monday Friday. Schedule may vary, based on needs and supervisor discretion.
