Minimum Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in Police Foundations or equivalent
Relevant law enforcement experience
Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills
Ability to interact with the public positively while exercising sound judgment and discretion while complying with all applicable privacy legislation.
Ability to organize work and resources in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Demonstrated safe work practices and working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
Valid class G driver’s license with acceptable driver’s abstract and satisfactory police records check
Assets
OAPSO (Ontario Association of Property Standards Officers) certification
MLEOA (Municipal Law Enforcement Officers Association) certification
Experience in interpreting and enforcing zoning bylaws
Duties
Ensure compliance and enforcement with relevant legislation, property standards, municipal by-laws, and zoning
Timely response and on-site inspections of complaints regarding by-law infractions
Research, interpret and apply applicable by-laws and legislation, municipal policies/guidelines, and other operational directives
Issuance of Orders pursuant to applicable regulations
As a Provincial Offences Officer, with direction from the Supervisor and following established procedures required by statute, prepares, serves, and issues all Provincial Offences Act authorized documents, Parts I & III, Dog Owner Liability Act, Parking Infraction Notices, all by-law related letters, notices or other documents authorized by the Municipal Act, Planning Act, Building Code Act and other Provincial legislation
Maintain accurate notes and records with a high level of attention to detail
Due to operational requirements, the incumbent must be available to work nights, afternoons, and weekends
Other duties as assigned
Annual Salary Range: $69,688 – $81,518 (Job Grade 6) 35 hours per week
