The Oregon Health Authority has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Communications Coordinator to join an excellent team. This is a full-time, permanent position with the External Relations Division and Oregon State Hospital. This is a classified role, represented by SEIU.
Oregon State Hospital Oregon State Hospital (OSH) is a Joint Commission-accredited and CMS-certified public psychiatric hospital which provides psychiatric hospital services and residential treatment services on two campuses, in Salem and Junction City, to persons committed by the Oregon courts as part of the state mental health system. The hospital’s primary goal is to help people recover from their illness and return to their lives in the community. Employees play an essential role in achieving the hospital’s vision to be a psychiatric hospital that inspires hope, promotes safety and supports recovery for all.
What you will do!
The Oregon State Hospital communications office helps to ensure consistent and timely communication on behalf of OSH with hospital staff, the legislature, stakeholders, media outlets, the public and other state agencies. This position serves as the communications coordinator to help the communications office ensure the appropriate logistical handling of communications issues, providing support for all communications projects, under the direction of the OSH communications lead. The communications coordinator interacts with diverse audiences, including patients, their families and staff from all levels of the organization. This position is also a project coordinator for the communications office, manages the hospital’s intranet site, and is responsible for ensuring tours and events are conducted according to hospital policy, assisting with them as needed.

What we are looking for:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Public Administration, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or the Behavioral or Social Sciences or related degree.
OR
Three years technical or higher-level experience directly related to the position under recruitment.
Required Skills:
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to vary messages as appropriate for different audiences and to communicate complex ideas and systems using plain language. Must be able to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines with flexibility, and exhibit written and oral communication skills, including effective communication with coworkers and staff at all levels of the organization.
The ability to work comfortably with patients and staff in a mental health setting.
Strong organizational and collaborative skills, preferably with at least one year of experience planning and tracking projects.
Experience maintaining a website.
