eCatalyst Healthcare Solutions is looking for Outpatient Surgery Medical Coders to join our team and be a part of an exciting opportunity with one of our premier clients.
Job Summary
The Outpatient Surgery Medical Coder will review medical record documentation and assign the appropriate medical codes in compliance with regulatory coding guidelines and organizational policies and procedures, thereby ensuring complete, accurate, and consistent coding. eCatalyst Healthcare Solution’s client-focused approach stems from our commitment to provide exceptional services with unrelenting client focus.
As an Outpatient Surgery Medical Coder, you will review ICD-10, CPT, APC, and CPT Modifiers, while maintaining a 95% or better overall accuracy rate. Other deliverables will depend on the client and their expectations.

Essential Functions

Reviews physician documentation and assigns ICD-10 and/or CPT/HCPCS codes, as supported by medical record documentation.
Abstracts pertinent information from the medical record.
Ensures optimal reimbursement of all cases in compliance with CMS policies and procedures and Official Coding Guidelines.
Invokes facility’s physician query process when code assignments are not straightforward, or when documentation in the medical record is incomplete, inadequate, ambiguous, or unclear for coding purposes.
Keeps abreast of coding guidelines and reimbursement reporting requirements.
Ensures client service level agreement quality and productivity standards are met.
Reviews organizational specific coding reference material.
Utilizes an electronic medical record (EMR) and computer-assisted coding (CAC) software or an encoder, depending on the client.
Complies with eCatalyst’s coding practices to meet corporate compliance guidelines and to ensure appropriate and effective reimbursement with client’s financial services, medical staff, and other departments.
Assists with the interpretation of codes and other information requested for accurate billing and reimbursement.
Completes daily production log.
Completes daily time keeping.
