Position: Cashier (Part-Time)

Open Roles: 2

Hours: Part-Time | Mon-Fri between 10am-6pm | rotating Saturdays

Pay: 14.35 – $15.50 hourly

Start Date: ASAP

Reporting to: Day Lead

This is an exciting opportunity to work with one of over 50 Mission Thrift Store locations. We are a non-
profit, Christian organization with net proceeds devoted to Joint Ministry of BFM Foundation (Canada)

and Bible League Canada. These funds are used to establish adult literacy programs, provide church

planter training, children’s ministry programs, and distribute Bibles in over 40 countries worldwide.

Locally, our goal is to become a resource to the Mississauga community and partner with like-minded

organizations.

What You’ll Do:

As a part-time Cashier with Mission Thrift Store, you are an outgoing personality who loves to provide

great service to others! Reporting to the Day Lead, the Cashier will provide a positive customer

experience with fair, friendly, and courteous service. You will be responsible for registering sales on a

cash register by scanning items, itemizing, and totaling customers’ purchases, processing returns, and

resolving customer issues.

Key Responsibilities:

Greet customers upon entry and during checkout
Manage transactions with customers using cash registers
Offer assistance to customers, suggest products, and promote specials and marketing
Scan goods and ensure pricing is accurate
Collect payments whether in cash or credit
Issue receipts, refunds, and change
Counting and balancing cash at the end of every shift and reporting any discrepancies
Resolve customer complaints, guide them, and provide relevant information
Maintain clean and tidy checkout areas
Assist with the bagging of purchased items
Provide adequate coverage to team members on cash and on retail floor during their break periods
Handle merchandise returns and exchanges

Qualifications:

Previous experience in a sales/retail work environment is a must
Can resolve any customers issues or concerns that may arise while ensuring customer satisfaction

Physically able: ability to stand for duration of shift, bend, lift and stretch
Able to Communicate clearly and effectively with volunteers, staff, and customers
Tidy, neat and organized. Maintains a tidy cash area that meets safety standards
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment with grace and good humor
Ability to work with integrity and without supervision
Knowledge of another language is considered an asset
