Job Description : LOCATION: Tribal Personnel Office Pablo
SALARY: $16.66 to $19.15 per hour including benefits
CLOSING DATE: Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 5:30 p.m.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
Position is not a Testing Designated Position within the definition of the CSKT Drug Free
Workplace Policy effective January 1, 1998. The successful applicant, if not already
employed by the Tribes must pass a prehire drug test and serve a mandatory six (6)
month probationary period.
Duties:
Assists with orientations of all new employees prior to or on their first day of work. Provides information regarding
the following policies: health insurance, life insurance, retirement, safety rules and regulations, the Employee
Assistance Program, leave policies, the Drug and Alcohol Program. Shortterm disability, Longterm disability, and
flex plan. Provides assistance and information to employees for completion forms.
Processes required paperwork for enrollment of employees in various programs with the various benefits
companies in a timely matter.
Ensures that health and life insurance policies and procedures are followed concerning proper completion of
forms.
Assists with annual update of employee life insurance worksheets in regards to pay rate and increase in age to
ensure correct premiums are being withheld.
Assists with entering health insurance information on Tribal Insurance Processing system for employees electing
coverage through the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program and ensures that correct information is entered
into the payroll system to begin payroll deduction for health insurance coverage. Provides payroll deduction to
Payroll Department for employees who elect additional life insurance coverage. Enters health insurance on Tribal
Insurances Processing system for employees terminating coverage upon resignation, retirement or termination.
Assists with conducting the annual open season for Federal Employees Health Benefits program and informing
the employees of new premiums of all available program and notifies employees of proper completion of forms to
change health insurance program and ensures that entering of information follows the established deadlines set
by the Tribal Insurance Processing System.
Periodically provide information, as requested, to the Personnel Management Specialist – Employee Benefits
Manager, Lead Personnel Management Specialist – Employee Benefits Supervisor and/or Personnel Department
Head.
Process claims for employees to withdraw from their retirement account and verifying information submitted on the
claim form for accuracy.
Maintains record of claims submitted and communicates with the retirement company of any delays in processing.
Periodically provides, as requested, information to the Personnel Management Specialist – Employee Benefits
Supervisor and/or Personnel Department Head.
Works closely with employees eligible for disability program to ensure that the proper paperwork is completed and
forwarded to the disability company within the required timeframe. Maintains separate filing system for disability
claims.
Processes service record forms for all new employees during orientation and verifies any previous service.
Records date for leave accrual, service award and retirement into database. Processes memorandums to
department and payroll office concerning leave accrual date.
Maintains and organizes the leave sharing program in accordance with Personnel Ordinance 69D. Serves as
contact representative for the Personnel Department in answering questions, requesting additional information
from leave recipients, leave donors, and physician’s statements. Maintains and manages leave sharing files
keeping the current and up to date.
Receives requests for leave sharing participants. Ensures that the proper forms and notification are provided to
participant and donors. Prepares memorandums to Payroll Office concerning leave sharing participants and
donors.
Assists with processing payroll changes on a biweekly basis in conjunction with the Payroll Office and forwards
payroll deductions to Payroll Office for input. Enters new employees onto payroll system and processes changes
to existing employees.
Assists with printing and mailing out 1095 C’s annually to file with their taxes.
Assists with gathering information and works with employees for Employee Work Comp claims and works with
Payroll Department for submission.
On an as needed basis, will monitor employment interview to ensure legality and fairness. Documents to interview
process with written notes and/or rating forms. Provides information to interviewees concerning pay, benefits, and
personnel policies. Answer applicants’ and hiring departments’ questions about the interview process.
Will deliver the highest level of responsive, courteous and effective customer service. Will respond to departmental
and organizational requests in a timely manner sharing clear expectations.
The above is not allinclusive and other related duties may be assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (AS REFLECTED ON THE TRIBAL EMPLOYMENT
APPLICATION):
An Associate of Arts degree in Business Management and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in
personnel management which includes payroll, data entry, oral and written communications, research
techniques and computer operations OR any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Must have ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Must have the ability to organize and perform a variety of personnel management functions while
exercising considerable independent judgement.
Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees,
other organizations, and the general public.
Must have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Must have the ability to analyze moderately complex data and draw conclusions from it.
Must have the ability to act with tact and diplomacy while dealing with a variety of people in a variety of
situations.
Knowledge of the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes Performance Planning and Review System.
