Typical Hiring Range: $33,600 – $35,230 annually

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications

Provides clerical and administrative support to the Pretrial Services Program. Performs a variety of routine clerical functions including answering phone calls, providing information, processing financial transactions, data entry, record keeping and retrieving/distributing mail.

Greets and manages incoming clients and answers phone calls, referring inquiries to appropriate personnel; retrieves voicemails and assists with various administrative duties such as filing, data entry and record keeping.
Responds to inquiries from defendants and/or the court. Provides information to defendants regarding their court date, bond conditions, etc.
Processes bookkeeping and financial transactions.
Completes and documents court date reminder calls to defendants.
Inputs defendants into the system for alcohol/drug testing, provides information to the testing vendor and provides assistance to vendors as needed.
Enters, updates, retrieves, and tracks information utilizing various databases and spreadsheets; assists with collecting statistics for compilation of monthly/annual reports.
Copies and distributes documents, writes correspondence, and faxes documents as requested.
Picks up, sorts, and distributes mail.
Interacts and coordinates with internal and external staff involved with the Pretrial Services Program.
Maintains office equipment and supply inventory.
Assists with paperwork and file management.
Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent education required.
Minimum one (1) year administrative or clerical experience in an office setting.
Minimum one (1) year related experience in the criminal justice or a related field highly desired.
Ability to preserve departmental, court, law enforcement, victim, and defendant confidentiality.
Effectively interact with the public, co-workers, victims, law enforcement and the courts
Ability to act in a diplomatic and courteous manner to deescalate potentially rude or hostile defendants.
Must have the ability to record information, explain procedures and issue and follow verbal and written instructions.
Requires the ability to add and subtract totals, multiply and divide, use decimals and calculate percentages.
Must be honest, trustworthy and possess a high degree of personal integrity.
Ability to use a computer, basic office equipment, databases, and Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public.
Must possess strong telephone, public interaction, written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work within a secured environment, follow and understand strict security guidelines as set by the El Paso County Sheriff.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Must pass conditional post offer background investigation, motor vehicle record check, and drug screen.

Licenses/Certificates

Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver’s License.
Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) certification, or have the ability to successfully obtain within thirty (30) days of employment.

Work is primarily performed in an office environment and/or secured detentions or court facility; some travel may be required. May be exposed to potentially rude or hostile defendants.
