Job Description
What you’ll be doing
As a member of CIBC’s Retail Mortgages Services team, you’ll work in a fast-paced back-office operational environment where you’ll make a meaningful difference in our clients’ lives. As a Mortgage Processing Officer, you will be responsible for verifying and completing post-advance mortgage servicing activities.
You will provide professional and timely support by verifying and processing CIBC mortgage transactions such as applying payments, payment frequency changes, collecting fees, processing tax overage/shortages, processing Online Banking requests for Prepayments or P&I amendments, as well as producing annual or detailed payment history statements for our clients. You will work closely with internal stakeholders (e.g. Banking Centres, Contact Centre, Client Account Management) to ensure documentation is accurate and complete according to policies and procedures before processing. You will investigate requests to resolve processing errors and/or out of balance conditions through processing adjustments and settling accounts.
You’ll make sure quality and productivity standards are achieved and Service Level Agreements (SLA) are met or exceeded by following well-defined procedures and guidelines and escalating issues as appropriate. You’re flexible to work our processing centre hours which may include evenings and weekends.

How you’ll succeed
Analysis – Conduct investigation and detailed analysis on flowback errors according to established guidelines to determine the nature of the issue, identifies root cause and resolve the error.
Risk and governance – Adhere to all risk and governance standards by completing all required documentation thoroughly and ensuring that all processes and procedures are followed. Document detailed findings including compliant and non-compliant issues to reflect results of department and support reporting requirements of the business
Collaboration – Work closely with your team to deliver a great customer experience. Ensure that your team’s collective work meets quality standards, deadlines, and service level agreements. Engage with internal CIBC departments in order to escalate issues, obtain information, and resolve any issues as needed.

Problem solving – Identify and resolve items of discrepancy and follow up on process problems within area of responsibility using independent judgement based on standard work procedures. Act like an owner by taking accountability for issues, and know when to lean on others to build a better solution together.
Organizational skills – Receive, prioritize, sort and complete workload using best judgment on potential impact to clients. Respond to questions from internal CIBC departments on relevant processes and provide guidance as needed. Complete quality checks for work completed to ensure accuracy. Monitor workflow to ensure priority is given to unresolved matters that cause backlog or delays in process flow.
Communication – Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner.
Who you are
You can demonstrate experience in a CIBC Retail Mortgage Services department that handles financial transactions such as debiting/crediting accounts and balancing posting sessions.
It’s an asset if you have existing knowledge of internal CIBC systems and applications (e.g. GOW, COINS, Excalibur, DocGen, Target, ECIF, iPRO)
