Position : PROPERTY/EVIDENCE TECHNICIAN – 3 POSITIONS
Job Description : The Property/Evidence Technician must be able to perform a variety of technical duties involved in the maintenance and processing of criminal evidence; testifying in court as an expert witness as required; and performing general technical duties in support of the Police Department. Duties include entering, deleting and updating information on stolen property and wanted persons in accordance with CJIN/NCIC guidelines. Must be able to make independent decisions, maintain accurate records and files, maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, and exercise good judgment, flexibility, creativity and sensitivity in response to changing situations and needs. The successful applicant must possess good customer service, computer skills and strong organizational skills.
Hours of Work: 4 -10 hour days, days off will be either Saturday, Sunday, Monday or Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Work schedules could vary based on operational needs.
Salary: $18.47/hour plus excellent benefits
Required Qualifications & Skills: High School Diploma or GED Specialized training beyond high school that can be obtain in one year or less Three (3) years of related work experience Must become a certified CJIN/NCIC operator within six (6) months of employment and maintain certification throughout employment in this position Must possess a valid Montana driver’s license or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of employment and must have a clean driving record After one year of training in proper evidence handling and storage techniques, must become certified as a Property and Evidence Specialist through the International Association of Property and Evidence, promotion to Property/Evidence Tech II once certification is achieved
Preferred Qualifications & Skills: Inventory/audit experience
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and a thorough background investigation, to include a Federal fingerprint based criminal history check.
