About this Position
Housing MT strengthens our vibrant communities by supporting access to safe, affordable and sustainable homes for Montanans whose housing needs are not met by the market. Housing MT assists with buying a home, down payment assistance, mortgage servicing, Reverse Annuity Mortgages, rental housing assistance and multifamily rental development.
The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing quality assurances and internal controls for the Department’s programs. This includes researching and advising management and staff of changing regulatory requirements and alternatives for program operation. The incumbent performs internal compliance assessments, provides quality assurances and internal controls, coordinates external audit responses and monitors and reviews internal work processes of individual staff. The position also provides training, technical assistance and data maintenance in support of ongoing program operations and activities.
Qualifications:
What are we looking for?
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or another closely related field; and
2+ years of experience in quality control, internal controls or similar work or
Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Competencies:
Knowledge of:
Principles and practices of loan servicing and lending
Administering HUD tenant-based and project-based programs
Rules, procedures, methods or operations related to Housing program administration (e.g., Housing and Urban Development, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Federal Housing Authority and more)
Business process analysis
Quality assurance and internal control procedures
Ability to:
Analyze and interpret statutory, contractual and technical information
Compile, organize and summarize complex financial and program data
Effectively communicate technical regulatory elements
Create methods of control and management to be easily implemented by staff
Communicate effectively at a high level, verbally and in writing, with various audiences
