Job Description : Job Title: R&D Assistant Company OverviewFor over 40 years, Ecolo has been an industry leader in innovative odor control technologies. The ISO-certified facility produces solutions such as air atomization, waterless vapor, and biochemical additives that eliminate odors at their source. In addition, Ecolo engineers distinct pieces of equipment in its recently expanded warehouse in Toronto, including pneumatic delivery systems, vapor delivery systems, and portable oscillating vapor cannons, developed exclusively for commercial, industrial and municipal odor control.Job DescriptionThe R&D Assistant role will perform day-to-day research and development-related duties. This position will require attention to detail and strategic thinking to collaborate among R&D and other departments to seize business opportunities. This position will also provide technical support internally and externally, conduct quality control, and ensure that lab tests to conform the company’s vision and mission, policy, and all the other regulations.The R&D Assistant reports to Head of R&D directly.Key Responsibilities and DutiesLab & Quality Control:Conduct lab experiments and site tests in good and safe practice;Conduct quality testing on raw materials and finished product;Prepare and maintain documentation for quality control and laboratory administration;Investigate issues and complaints from clients on-site and in the lab while following regulations and guidelines;Communicate and report information regarding formulation, regulations, and results in a timely manner;Assist in developing or modifying experimental protocols as needed, from literature reviews, industry guidelines, consultation with a chemist or preliminary trials;Maintain data and prepare product reports per company requirements;Keep in regular contact with material suppliers for quality specifications;Conduct review, revision, and assistance in developing statements, procedures, actions plan in response to client needs, product regulatory audits and product certifications.Be able to make suggestions and respond constructively and proactively to challenges that ariseRegulation compliance:Stay on top of industry product/worksite chemical regulatory and service-level compliance initiatives;Identify control gaps and opportunities for improvements related to applicable regulation and industry best practices;Coordinate with external 3rd party consulting agencies in making sure regulation compliance for products or processTechnical support to internal team and external clients:Assist in technical support to sales staff and clients with a focus on product chemistry, functionality, features, benefits, and application use etc.;Assist in generating new spec sheets, SDSs or modifying existing ones complying with updated regulatory requirementsPerform lab analysis, prepare reports on test results on time;Provide tech support to Sales team regularly or according to the needs;Collect and provide feedback for R&D team about products functions, applications and R&D roadmap;Administration:Keep a clean and safe lab environment;Maintain accurate records of lab equipment use and test results;Provide some administrative duties for lab material and equipment purchasing, fixing and calibrations;Collect and analyze R&D funding information; Assist in preparing material for submission to granting agencies and foundations;Perform other related duties as assigned.Personal Competencies· Action-oriented: Full of energy for challenges and not fearful of making suggestions, acting, and solving problems· Integrity and trust: Seen as a direct, truthful individual who presents facts appropriately and helpfully, maintains confidentiality and takes accountability· Learning on the fly: Learns things quickly when facing new problems and is a versatile learner open to change and quickly grasps the essence of ideas; self-directed with the ability to adjust in a dynamic environment· Peer relationships: Can solve problems with peers and is seen as a team player who easily gains trust and support and encourages collaboration; excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally· Perseverance: Pursues everything with energy, drive, and a need to finish· Self-development: Personally committed to and actively works to continuous improvements· Standing alone: Can be counted on and is willing to be the only champion for an idea or work alone on a tough assignment· Technical learning: Can learn new skills and knowledge quicklyJob Types: Full-time, PermanentSchedule: Monday to FridayJob Types: Full-time, PermanentSalary: $20.00-$25.00 per hourBenefits:Dental careDisability insuranceExtended health careFlexible scheduleOn-site parkingVision careSchedule:Monday to FridayAbility to commute/relocate:North York, ON M9L 2A6: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)Education:Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
