We are looking for a voracious reader, with an eye for what makes a story compelling, to be our summer reading intern.
In this role, you will spend your days on the Content Development team reporting to the Managing Editor. You’ll be reading stories, grading them according to a rubric, and creating summaries that will be used to inform decisions about investing in content. This will be a 4 month internship.
What you’ll be doing:
Reading stories either in part or full, creating detailed notes, and grading their quality, hook and pacing, strengths and weaknesses, and suggesting possible fixes
Attending content team meetings in order to learn about how our editors and experts think about stories and how investment decisions tie back to our larger strategy
What’s critical for success:
You are a fast and analytical reader as well as a pop culture enthusiast
You are someone who reads a story or watches a show or movie and thinks about ways it either succeeds in its goals or fails to achieve them
You have genre and content objectivity; you’ll be reading a variety of stories in different genres with different degrees of maturity—you need to be able to see the good in any story, whether it is to your taste or not
You are, of course, a Wattpadder! (Or are eager to learn!)

Wattpad is conducting all interviews in a distributed manner using applicable third party software where needed and using visual interface tools such as Google Hangouts and Zoom.
