Position : Relief Manager – Packaging

Job Description : Title: Relief Manager – Packaging
This position provides coverage for 3rd shift Packaging Manager days off, manager’s vacations, and leaves as applicable. May be scheduled four, 10-12 hour shifts or five, 8 – 10 hour shifts, that may start after 12pm. Will have two consecutive days off.
The Packaging Manager is responsible for the overall operations of the packaging department to ensure accurate, effective and efficient performance of the packaging line.
Essential Job Functions

Understands how to operate, troubleshoot equipment, and works alongside packaging technicians and operators to ensure packaging speeds and specifications are in line with production schedule.
Develops packaging department leads, operators and employees through orientation, training, performance evaluation, and coaching.
Verifies all packaging quality assurance documentation is complete and accurate.
Ensures that all work activities are performed in an organized manner with the highest attention to detail.
Implements daily production plan by studying packaging schedule, assembling necessary resources, setting up equipment, staffing packaging lines, monitoring results, and improving performance as needed.
Ensures departmental goals are achieved by the effective communication to the packaging team and appropriate delegation of tasks to leads.
Analyze packaging line performance.
Lead projects to better enhance quality, line speed, and overall packaging performance.
Comply with safety and quality assurance standards, including maintaining daily documentation.
Supervise and train employees to make sure that Packaging SOP’s, GMP, HACCP and Safety/COVID-19 guidelines are being followed.
Conduct regular shift meetings to discuss general work-related topics.
Perform other duties as assigned.
A team player possessing excellent communication skills and having the ability to plan, prioritize and organize work effectively.

Position Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent. College preferred.
Five years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in the food industry.
Minimum three years of proven supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
Knowledge of manufacturing, production, safety and quality processes
Strong decision making-skills and proven ability to prioritize
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Computer literacy, including proficient skills in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint
Bilingual – Spanish is a plus but not required

Compensation is based on level of experience, including education, years of experience in management, machine operations/troubleshooting and bakery or food manufacturing industry experience. The range provided is a guideline and does not mean that all candidates or current employees will qualify for the high end of the range.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 – $78,000.00 per year
