ROLE SUMMARY:

Comply with all safety standards and regulations provided by the company and government (e.g. LOTO, Work Permits, etc.).
Adhere to safety, environmental, employee training; complete assigned work efficiently and per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
Data collection for Plant Variety Protection. Botanical and morphological plant/seed characterization.
Purify and multiply research barley germplasm for commercial production.
Work duties include nursery trial design, organization, seed processing, planting, plot maintenance, harvest, equipment operation, data collection and processing, irrigation, and pesticide application.
Work in a team or autonomously to complete work and provide agricultural research program support.
Assist with process improvement and initiate change that utilizes a corporate management structure called VPO and SMS.
Lead process improvement and initiate change within the Purity and Multiplication department.
Maintain cleanliness of warehouse, facility, and property to Anheuser-Busch standards.
Interact with Maintenance Dept. performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment repairs
2 – 3 weeks domestic travel

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

BS degree in breeding, genetics, plant science, agriculture, or related scientific discipline, equivalent industry experience considered.
Knowledge and understanding of basic plant breeding, and experimental agricultural research practices.
Understanding of agronomy and crop production.
Farm experience is preferred.
Knowledge and understanding of agricultural herbicides, insecticides and seed treatments.
Highly organized, motivated, self-directed, multi crafted worker that is able to work autonomously in a fast paced, ever changing, often loud and dusty environment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment with people of varying skills and backgrounds.
Ability to learn the safety policies and procedures required by ABInbev (e.g. lock out / tag out, working at heights).
Strong computer skills required; Microsoft Office Excel proficiency.
Manage priorities and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to troubleshoot problems, identify root causes and propose and implement remedies.
Must be able to continuously stand, bend, and twist. Must be able to lift items up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work off shifts (afternoons and weekends) and overtime as necessary. Must be able to work outside in varying temperatures, climates and dust.
Effectively and safely operate and maintain operating equipment.
Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a CDL.
Obtain Colorado Private Pesticide Applicator’s License
