Job Description : Job Title: Residential Manager EEO Class: Manager
Supervisor’s Title: Program Director FLSA Status: Exempt
Department: Residential
General Summary: Responsible for managing, training and leading the Youth Mentors and Supervisors in his/her house. Makes decisions regarding scheduling, safety, and staffing and is ultimately responsible for the care and supervision of the students in her/his house and performance of all residential staff in his/her house. Ensuring that parents feel connected to Milestones and receive updates about their student.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Directs and manages the Youth Mentors and supervisors in her/his house. Rewards employees for exceptional work.
Delegates responsibility to shift members and supervisors as appropriate.
Works in cooperation with the HR point person and Residential Director throughout the hiring process and makes the final hiring decision.
Provides on-shift orientation for new hires using the orientation checklist provided. Provides new supervisors with orientation and ongoing training.
Trains shift members and Supervisors on an ongoing basis and formally each week in a house team meeting.
Evaluates shift supervisors on an ongoing basis and formally with a quarterly evaluation.
Responsible for disciplining shift members, assisting Youth Mentors and Shift Supervisors as needed. Formal methods of discipline include: verbal warning, write-up, probation, suspension, and termination.
Communicates any pertinent events occurring on his/her shift in a shift change meeting with the relieving supervisor.
Represents his/her house at the weekly interdisciplinary Treatment Team meeting.
Responsible for house effectiveness.
Conducts safety drills on a quarterly basis and instructs other supervisors to do likewise.
Performs the duties of a Supervisor at a high level.
Responsible for executing the program events calendar.
Effectively manages residential budget for her/his house.
Responsible for the cleanliness of the house,
Communicates frequently by telephone and email to parents about student’s progress, needs, and expectations for that family.
Responsible for implementing treatment team decisions regarding interventions and therapeutic direction.
Participate/run a number of the following but not limited to student activities Workout, cooking, team sports, chores, swimming, study nights.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of Company policies and practices (see training manual).
Knowledge of hiring and discipline policies and procedure.
Knowledge of Youth Mentor and Supervisor job duties and responsibilities.
Knowledge of the issues and disorders that the students are faced with.
Knowledge of medications distributed to students.
Skill in teaching and motivating both staff and students.
Skill in managing available resources and creating a true team environment.
Skill in communication.
Ability to prioritize and organize.
Ability to work effectively with other professionals such as therapists and nurses.
Ability to lead by example.
Ability to safely hold or restrain an upset or comparative student.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written.
Excellence in all Supervisor knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Must maintain certification is CPR, First Aid, and restraint training.
Education and Experience:
The position requires experience working with at risk youth, or post high school training in the field of mental health. Experience working at Chrysalis specifically is also required. A Bachelors degree in a related field of study is preferred but not required.
