Job Description : Duties
Position is located at National Institute of Standards and Technologies, Chief Office of Facilities and Property Management, Facilities Maintenance Division. The primary purpose will be responsible for all work required to provide various inspections across the NIST Boulder site including a variety of large and complex Federal buildings or facilities. Typical work assignments include daily oversight during construction/remediation operations, reviewing construction/remediation plans and job hazard analysis’, attending pre-construction meetings, and inspecting sites for safe working conditions. The incumbent also supports safety of operations during other preventative maintenance work included in typical facilities related maintenance and operations. Incumbent shall work with division members to issue appropriate permits for work being completed such as hot work, excavation, or confined space. Incumbent shall develop, coordinate, and present safety trainings to the division or appropriate contract personnel; serve as an in-division safety coach; make decisions on safety code application and practices required to reduce or eliminate injury and gain code compliance. Work could also consist of inspecting ladders both fixed and portable, fume hood inspections, inspecting and mechanical and electrical rooms as well as other safety assessments. Incumbent shall perform Contracting Officer’s Representative duties and project management on safety related contracts.

Qualifications

Basic requirements ZT-04: All applicants must have one year (52 weeks) of the specialized experience at the GS-10 level (ZT-III at NIST). Specialized experience is defined performing technical assistance, consultation, and guidance on the implementation of mechanical systems safety, safety equipment inspections, and safety workplace inspections during testing, renovation, and maintenance and construction operations. An applicant who does not demonstrate in their resume that they possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade/pay band will be rated ineligible and disqualified from further consideration.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.

The physical worksite for this position is located in Boulder, Colorado.
