About the role:

Reporting to the Director of Sales, the Sales Manager will motivate and guide an outstanding Sales team and help define strategies and programs to build our business in order to continue to be the market leader in our industry.
Core Competencies:

Has a sound understanding of, and keeps up to date with GIS principals, technical aspects surrounding GIS and spatial workflows, licensing and user/customer needs.
Is able to clearly communicate and articulate in person, over the phone and in writing to help customers find the best options regarding Avenza’s software solutions.
Assists with calls and emails existing and prospective customers following up on interest expressed, downloads, technical questions, or licensing questions.
Reviews and addresses vendor requirements when working with various private companies and government customers to ensure Avenza is correctly listed as a vendor.
Reviews, negotiates and escalates contracts/license agreements surrounding purchases and licensing.
Determine, advise and close software sales agreements with customers.
Attends industry trade shows representing Avenza.
Meets and exceeds quarterly and annual sales targets.
Works with a reseller network to drive sales outside of North America.
Help find potential resellers in underserved areas.
Assists sales team in answering emails and calls in high volume times.
Work and communicate with key clients and accounts to grow sales (upsell, cross sell) , find new avenues for existing products, develop partnerships and promote products and training.
Conducts online demonstrations of all products to prospective customers.
Administers and develops new features and works with integrators to keep SugarCRM up to date with new features to streamline sales processes.

Team Management:

Oversee day to day operations of the sales team ensuring emails are answered in a timely, correct and ‘on brand’ manner and that goals are being met.
Ensure outgoing quotes and pricing are correct.
Coaches sales team to encourage their growth and professional development.
Conduct regular sales meetings with staff to answer questions, align sales strategies, review targets and goals and ensure any changes to SOP are clearly communicated and defined.
Conduct bi-annual reviews of sales staff progress.
Update sales team with product development changes and updates.
Ensure communication and documentation is being recorded in SugarCRM and appropriate action (followup, calls) are being acted upon for viable leads and existing customers.
Recruit, hire, and train sales team
Set sales goals, compare performance to goals, and adjust goals as needed
Assess current team processes and procedures, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement them
Have a deep understanding of all Avenza products, GIS principles and industry trends
Assess individual performance, encourage team and suggest improvements where necessary.
Gather feedback and insights from clients to generate solutions, guide product development and drive results; leverage customer feedback and insights to cross sell and promote new product solutions
Assist in developing a strategic vision through ongoing collaboration with product support, QA and senior management teams to establish policies, objectives, and integration of new products and features to meet the needs of clients
Ongoing creation of documentation and onboarding materials for Sales and Processing team
Strong oral and written communication skills
Deep understanding of CRM systems and best practices
knowledge of GIS products, Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, SugarCRM, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite
Help prepare and deliver interactive online demonstrations and workshops for prospective clients

Interdepartmental Communication:

Liaise with the Marketing team regularly to plan, target and enact marketing campaigns and case studies to current and prospective customers.
Collaborate with Marketing on customer communications surrounding licensing, promotions and renewals.
Work with Support/Client Success to ensure users who are covered under maintenance are given the highest priority, that their needs are addressed and ultimately they renew/increase their licensing year on year.
Support Client Success and Business Development teams to guide product development, anticipate customer needs and work on and close large contracts and enterprise licensing agreements.
Liaise with Business Development to explore new verticals, partnerships and opportunities.
Outline priority features for Development team, establish which tier (if applicable) features should be incorporated in.

About you:

3-5 years of Sales Management experience, preferably in GIS or Software Sales
Experience managing and leading a team
Proven ability to drive results, find solutions, work autonomously as required
Strong Relationship Builder, Clear and Concise Communicator, Strong and Inspiring Presenter
Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks
Ability to demonstrate sales analysis and findings in a meaningful way
Works well in fast paced environment – Self Motivated – Self Starter
Highly focused with great attention to detail
