Job Description : Job Title: Shipping Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Department: Shipping
· Summary: Directs warehouse shipments and will call for facility by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
· Using software to track, check, prioritize and route orders
· Managing all important documents such as advanced shipping notice, pick slips, bills of lading etc.
· Directing the flow of packages from preparation to shipment
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Oversight and verification or orders incoming and outgoing, handling and disposition of materials, and maintaining warehouse inventory in facilities.
· Ensure all trucks are correctly loaded and schedule is on time.
· Inspect physical condition of warehouse and equipment and schedule routine and non-routine maintenance.
· Quality control input or return product, processing of claims and routing driver’s daily deliveries.
· Confer with customer service team, to ensure coordination of warehouse will calls, order entry, invoicing of orders, customer returns and end of the day sales posting.
· Participate in planning personnel safety, plant protection training and conduct weekly department meetings.
· Assist shipping staff and drivers with concerns, safety, reports of safety incidents, while maintaining communication with General Manager.

Use software to track, check, prioritize and route orders
Manage all important documents such as advanced shipping notice, pick slips, bills of lading etc.
Direct the flow of packages from preparation to shipment
Inspect labels, barcodes and other features of completed orders
Supervise and lead subordinates (shipping clerks, order pickers etc.)
Control budget of the shipping department
Collaborate with warehouse, purchasing and other managers to optimize processes
Resolve issues regarding shipped orders
Ensure compliance to legal regulations and company policies
Report to management on activities and issue

· Coordinate the stamping and/or labeling of all export orders and complete all of the necessary USDA documents for health certificates and Halal Certificates, etc.
· Monitor work hours on a daily basis and approve payroll weekly.
Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven experience as a shipping manager. Knowledge of logistical procedures. RF scan gun experience a plus.
Good understanding of budgeting and reporting.
Must be able to interface well with all employees of the Company and to represent the Company in a highly professional manner. Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Must be multi-task oriented.
Language Ability:
· Ability to understand written and verbal instructions. Ability to effectively read, speak and communicate in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before small groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquires or complaints. Excellent organizational and communication skills
Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Good understanding of budgeting and reporting.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to interact and draw valid conclusions. Ability to react, respond and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Attention to detail and problem solving skills.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have excellent knowledge of MS Office (with a strong emphasis on Excel) and various computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation and/or ERP software as well as the ability to type and perform 10 key by touch if germane to your position.
Certificates and Licenses:
Forklift Certified (company will certify as needed)
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises employees in the Shipping Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Physical Demands
Standing:
Frequently during assigned shift, in combination with walking. Could be 8 to 10 hours a day.

Frequently during of assigned shift. Walking in and around the department, to and from department, Indoors and outdoors.
Lift/Carry:
Frequently Weights 1-75lbs. Some projects allow for lifting that might exceed 100 lbs. when exceeding 100lbs allow for two people lifting.
Carrying Required: Frequently – Items that may weigh up to 75 lbs.
Push/Pull
Frequently during assigned shift. Using both arms exerting force to push, pull, carry and move boxes that weight up to 75lbs.
Bending
Frequently during assigned shift. Self-paced activity, minimize bending with attention to body mechanics.
Kneel/Crouch/Crawl
Frequently during assigned shift.
Reaching/Handling
Frequently during assigned shift. Reaching for product on shelves, pallets, forklift forks. Handling: Various sizes and weights of boxes.
Climbing
Frequently – In and out of trucks, racks and pallets.
Frequently – Climbing of Stairs
Driving
Occasionally – Forklift, Pallet Jack
