Job Description : HEADWATERS RC&D AREA, INC.Job DescriptionSmall Business Development Center DirectorBACKGROUND: Headwaters RC&D Area, Inc. is a not for-profit 501(c)(3) organization. The organization receives funding from federal, state, and local governments, private organizations, and foundations. It administers multiple grant programs and loan programs for businesses.POSITION: SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER DIRECTORSUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTIONS: Responsible for providing confidential counseling, business training, and information to small business owners. The Director is also responsible for management and reporting to meet all state and federal requirements of the Small Business Center (SBDC) programSPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:1. Client Assessment to include information gathering, problem solving, opportunity identification and planned course of action.Standard Product Services:a. Business Plan: Guidance and Reviewb. Marketing Plan: Guidance and Reviewc. Market Research: Guidance and Reviewd. Financial Projections: Guidance and Reviewe. Loan Applications: Guidance and Reviewf. Strategic Plan: Guidance and Review2. Provide Business Information and Resource Identification3. Provide Training/Workshops/SeminarsExamples:a. Pre-Venture and Business Start-upb. Existing Business: Management Topicsc. Access to Capitald. Small Business Workforce Training Topicse. Technology Applications for Small Businessf. Advanced Workshop Topics and Teleconferencing comprehensive small business management courses4. The following management and reporting duties are required. The list is not all inclusive and may be amended as program requirements change.a. Submit annual proposals and budget/program revisions as needed.b. Ensure two-way communication with the State Lead Center, representing the opinion of the Region at meetings, various committees, and other activities. This includes reporting current and potential problems.c. The regional center director shall attend or send a designee to the quarterly network meetings and to any other meetingsdesignated as mandatory by the State Director.d. Oversee service providers to ensure that contractual commitments, both budgetary and programmatic, are met.e. Oversee the budgeting and financial tracking process; monitor Budgets.f. Act in a leadership capacity to ensure that communications and networking mechanisms are set up and working appropriately.g. Act in a leadership capacity to recruit program partners and establish funding streams necessary to support and grow the local program.h. Communicate within the network by e-mail unless a signature is required. In that case, an electronic document shallbe sent when the signed document is sent.i. Provide the Headwaters Administrative Assistant with any additions or corrections to minutes within one week from the time the minutes have been presented to staff.j. Maintains confidentiality in Headwaters matters.k. Performs other work as may be necessary to meet federal, state, and grant reporting requirements.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: As directed by the Executive Director.SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable persons with disabilities to perform the essential functions.This position requires considerable knowledge of business financing practices and procedures including; preparation and presentation of sound business plans, financial analysis (ratios, cash flows, break-even points, etc.), use of financial information to analyze business performance and to make recommendations for necessary corrective actions, job costing and manufacturing cost accounting, establishment and maintenance of business accounting systems, analysis of financing options for business start-ups or expansions, and preparation of business financing packages and more specifically:Working knowledge of availability of loans and loan guarantees for business, industrial revenue bonds, venture capital investing, and business taxation and tax incentives.· Skills in preparing and presenting accurate written and oral summaries of financial analysis.· Skill in using financial analysis computer programs.· Possess familiarity, skill, experience or aptitude to handle a management information systemAbilities: This position requires the ability to communicate through clear and effective communications, both oral and written; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients; local, state and federal agencies; local development organizations and community business groups; existing lenders; co-workers. board members and the general public.Ability to promote team building and professionalism with all staff in a cooperative and appropriate manner.Education and/or Experience: Position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in business or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field with small business administrative experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the duties outlined above or employment history demonstrating knowledge and ability to perform the duties outlined above.Job Type: Full-timePay: $55,000.00 – $65,000.00 per yearBenefits:401(k)Dental insuranceFlexible scheduleHealth insurancePaid time offVision insuranceSchedule:Monday to FridayAbility to commute/relocate:Butte, MT: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)Education:High school or equivalent (Preferred)Experience:Finance: 3 years (Preferred)Willingness to travel:25% (Preferred)Work Location: One location
