What can I expect to do in this role?
You will:

Administer, monitor, co-ordinate and evaluate the Special Services at Home Program (SSAH), Assistance for Children with Severe Disability Program (ACSD) and Enhanced Respite for Medically Fragile and/or Technologically Dependent Children (MFTD);Provide orientation to community agencies, families and the general public concerning the intent and goals of these programs;Review and recommend approval of requests for SSAH;Provide advice to service providers and parents on availability of programs to meet child/adult needs;Make recommendations for approval and conduct reviews of ACSD clients.
How do I qualify?
Legislation and Community Resources Knowledge:You have knowledge of community resources/agencies for persons with developmental, physical and other disabilitiesYou have knowledge of and ability to interpret relevant legislation such as Developmental Services Act, Child and Family Services Act, Ontario Disability Support Program and other related legislation
Communication, Negotiation and Interpersonal Skills:You demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills to effectively provide information and converse with the clients and publicYou can apply your interpersonal and customer service skills to manage relationshipsYou have negotiation and interviewing skills to obtain important information and utilizing tact and discretion to clearly understand the needs of clients with disabilities
Analytical and Problem Solving Skills:You are able to analyze information to understand and explain legislation, policies and guidelinesYou have proven problem solving skills to identify gaps in services within the community, provide recommendations and potential solutionsYou exercise sound judgment when dealing with sensitive information
Organizational and Computer Skills:You have demonstrated organizational skills to meet deadlines and to work under pressureYou have a proven ability to work independentlyYou have experience using computer applications including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.You are able to use automated computer systems and online database systems

Effective October 1, 2021, the OPS COVID-19 Safe Workplace Directive requires all Ontario Public Service employees to provide proof they are fully vaccinated, meaning they are fully vaccinated as defined by the Ministry of Health (refer to: COVID-19 Fully Vaccinated Status in Ontario), including 14 calendar days have passed since receiving their final dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Employees who do not provide proof of full vaccination will be deemed ‘not vaccinated’ under the Directive and will be required to attend a vaccine education program and undergo regular rapid antigen testing. Employees who are not vaccinated under the policy with a valid medical exemption will not be required to attend a vaccine education program but must undergo regular rapid antigen testing.
