Our Operations organization is seeking a Strategic Quality Director who will specifically be responsible for Quality Strategy, Metrology, Non-Destructive Test (NDT), Quality procedures and processes, AS9100 Certification and maintenance for all Space Operations, Space Quality Metrics, 5-Star process and deployment, oversee the Operations Leadership Development Program (OLDP) across Space and who will work directly for the Vice President (VP) of Quality in support of the entire organization, supporting the Quality staff in successfully managing and leading the organization. This key director opportunity will build breadth in the areas of analysis, planning, execution, and communication. The role will proactively expand the knowledge base to include tactical and strategic project management work related to the Quality strategic initiatives, talent development, and organizational design.

We are seeking a leader who will find innovative ways to drive execution, surface issues, champion change and promote 100% mission success.

Responsibilities will also include, but are not limited to:

Driving execution in metrology operations and tool calibration process for all of Space, with responsibility for more than 45K calibrated tools.
Ownership of all Quality processes and procedures for Space Quality team, AS9100 site certification responsibilities and accountability, recertification activity and execution
Managing and maintaining compliance to the Quality Management System (QMS) documents and processes used at 21 sites.

Partnering with industry via the Joint Strategic Quality Council (JSQC) to develop and implement industry process improvements.Proactively identifying and disseminating best practices across Quality with special emphasis on affordability without compromise to mission success; establish and enforce consistent, best value mission assurance standards across all LOB programs; ensure enterprise understanding and response to LOB level issues
Enforcement of Quality personnel proficiency standards. Providing active leadership and engagement with Quality LOB peers and functional counterparts to improve people, processes, and tools within the Quality discipline.
Maintaining a robust corrective action process that drives substantive actions to prevent future defects; drive a quality strategy that focuses on early detection and resolution of defects, mistake proofing and elimination of handling/process escapements.
In addition, the Director will take on special projects that can be tailored to the individual’s development plan. Some domestic travel will be involved.
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years of Program, Operations, Quality or Engineering experience.Minimum 7 years of management experience leading increasing size of multi-discipline/site teams
Proven experience working with executive level leadership and creating high-level briefings and presentations.Experience working high profile, complex projects from start to finish.Project management experience across organizations.Experience with change management.Demonstrated ability to create streamlined, agile execution plans and deliver high value solutions.Demonstrated Full Spectrum Leadership behaviors.Experience leading large teams of hourly, salaried professions, and/or managers.
Desired Skills:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical field preferred
Six Sigma or Lean Processes certification, lead auditor, metrics and statistics background.Proven self-starter and self-motivator.Detail-oriented.Experienced big picture thinker with proven strategic project management skills.Ability to turn a concept into reality.Demonstrated experience with quality assurance across the life cycle of a program.Excellent written and verbal communication and Microsoft Office skills.Demonstrated knowledge of Space Major Functional Organizations’ initiatives for commonality and productivity improvements.Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills with peers, subordinates, suppliers, senior management, customers, and their consultants, with the ability to establish critical trust relationships through professionalism, respectful treatment of all employees and by delivering on commitments.
