Job Description : Contract, full-time position (to August 31, 2022)If you thrive in a multi-stakeholder environment, where you can use your communication skills and PC/LAN technical support expertise to facilitate the user experience, the Peel District School Board (PDSB) has an exciting opportunity you’ll want to consider.Reporting to the PC/LAN Team Leader, you’ll provide application support, maintenance and installation of computer hardware and software for the Central Board Office, School offices, Instructional classrooms, and Field Offices – from setting up and maintaining computer networks, to performing routine maintenance on hardware and operating system software.As a Technical Support Specialist, you’ll be expected to implement local area networks and provide ongoing support for administrative computer systems, assist the Internetworking Team in installing and maintaining communications equipment and resolving problems, as well as direct equipment for repair and monitor the repair process. Testing, debugging and evaluating operating systems, applications software and the user interface will be an integral aspect of this multi-faceted role. School staff will also rely on you for the installation of application software and operating system software, technical assistance in the set-up and use of hardware and peripherals, and training on software and hardware.This is a day shift position, with the 7 hours of work being between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., requiring the ability to travel to any location within the Peel District School Board, and you could, accordingly, be required to transport equipment.EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS This is an opportunity to demonstrate your technical skills, acquired through a post-secondary education in an applicable discipline, and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in technical support of PC/LAN environments. As a Technical Support Specialist, you’ll also call upon the following strengths:Expertise with MS Windows, MS Office Suite, Apple Technology, TCP/IP, Wireless and Ethernet Networks, Mobile Technology, Active Directory and SCCM, and Tablet Technology.Excellent communication skills to deal effectively with Board personnel and technical staff.A valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and anti-oppression, and to working in a diverse school community and/or work environment.ASSET: · Experience with MS SharePoint.Salary range: $60,040 to $68,348 per annumTo apply for the position of Technical Support Specialist, please complete an online application through Apply To Education.
