Job Description
The Materials Science, Chemistry and Computer Science group at the National Renewable Energy lab has an opening for a Research Technician. This position will contribute toward the development of encapsulation strategies for perovskite solar cells and work within a larger group effort covering tandem integration and modeling, module fabrication, reliability characterization, technoeconomic analysis, and fundamental studies on scientific underpinnings of the operation of tandem photovoltaic modules.

Basic Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Associate’s Degree or certification program of comparable scope and 2 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Substantial acquaintance with and understanding of general aspects of the job with a broad understanding of the detailed aspects of the job. Intermediate to advanced skills in research techniques and practices. Good written, verbal, team, interpersonal and communication skills.

Additional Required Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have experience in one or more of the following: (1) Fabrication characterization of photovoltaic devices (2) Packaging materials (e.g. polymers such as EVA, POE, etc.) and processing (e.g. vacuum lamination) (3) Evaluation of Solar cell/module reliability.

Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have a sound understanding of the fundamentals of solar cell operation. A strong background in at least one of the following areas is preferred: (1) fabrication and characterization of perovskite and/or Si solar cell devices; (2) experience with tandem solar cells; (3) collecting data from multiple samples.

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week) Annual Salary Range: $45,700 – $73,000
Offers will typically be made in the bottom half of the listed range. NREL takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, as well as the position’s work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, a potential new employee’s salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
