DAY/EVENING/NIGHT/WEEKENDS; 4 & 8 HOUR SHIFTS (Subject to change)

SALARY: $24.08 – $25.24 per hour

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Telecommunications Attendant will be responsible for: operating the switchboard consoles as well as other communications equipment in the department; processing incoming calls and long distance calls for patients and staff; operating various features and capabilities of the consoles; implementing all emergency procedures; activating the Paging System; providing locating services and dispatches messages; and other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Grade 12 educationGraduate from a Community College Course in 911 Emergency Services Communications preferred
Recent related multiple tie-lines switchboard operating experience, utilizing CISCO VOIP telephone equipment or other related Telecommunications consoles within a healthcare environment, preferred;Ability to operate all equipment in the department proficiently (switchboard, console, SL1 locating phone, pagers, overhead PA paging system with headset application);Demonstrated keyboarding skills (30 wpm tested);Proven knowledge of Microsoft Office; Word and Excel (tested);Experience with CTI (computer telephone integration) application, with knowledge of Meditech Modules;Proven knowledge of Hospital and departmental policies with the ability to carry out all emergency procedures;Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
Ability to work in an enclosed environment within close proximity to co-workers;Demonstrated organizational and independent skills with the ability to prioritize workload in order to achieve deadlines;Ability to be detailed oriented;Proven ability to work with minimal supervision with frequent interruptions in a busy/stressful environment;Knowledge of Medical Terminology, an asset;Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Teamwork, Compassion, Innovation and Joy;Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health’s comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area; andProven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard.

The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.
