Description of Job
A customer service based position that involves facilitating park interpretive and environmental education programs. Employees develop and present natural resources/historical related programs to park visitors. Duties include but are not limited to:
Schedule, plan and present Junior Ranger programs
Schedule, plan and present school and group programs
Schedule, plan and present campfire programs and guided hikes
Schedule, plan and present outreach programs
Provide roving interpretation in campgrounds and day use areas
Work with individual and group volunteers
May train volunteer naturalists
May train volunteer naturalists and guide other staff in developing programs
Work with other State, Federal and local agency naturalists
Market and promote attendance at programs
May develop brochures and other written materials
Work scheduled shifts in Park Visitor Center or Entrance Station
May represent the Park at special events or programs in park or local community
Collect, catalog, organize and protect park collections of slides, photographs, specimens, etc.
May assist with all areas of park operations including maintenance and visitor services.
Attend assigned training sessions
Assures quality customer service and assistance to visitors
Other duties as assigned
NOTE:
This position is up to 40 hours per week and up to six months in duration. School schedules
may be accommodated.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
REQUIREMENTS:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have a valid drivers’ license and reliable transportation (provide motor vehicle record upon hire)
Must have clean criminal history
First Aid and CPR certification desired.
Must be self-motivated, be an accomplished public speaker and have good writing skills
Must be able to work independently
Must be able to work various shifts, weekends and holidays
Possess strong interpersonal communication skills
Previous education or experience in environmental education, the natural sciences and interest in local natural and cultural history desired
UNIFORMS:
The park may provide some uniform items. Employee will be required to purchase limited
uniform items at their own expense.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Effective September 20, 2021, employees will be required to attest to and verify whether or not they are fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
