Position : Track Laborer
Job Description : Primary Duties
Under the general supervision from the Track Supervisor, the Track worker is responsible for performing all duties and activities associated with track maintenance and repair. The incumbent is responsible for keeping railroad track and all components in optimal condition to meet test requirements and/or FRA, TTCI track standards. Tests sometimes require understanding and proper execution of specifications and adapt to meet objectives and expectations. Responsibilities include:
Assists in installing, maintaining, measuring, and repairing TTCI’s track structures. Performs fieldwork on the TTCI site.
Assists in preparing worksite. Unloads trucks and distributes track materials, tools, and equipment.
Operates various hand and power tools and equipment, including hydraulic tools, pneumatic tools, drills, impacts, rail saw, grinders, spike driver, spike puller, shovel, prybar, pick, tie tongs, track jacks, sledgehammer, claw bar, and spike maul.
Pulls spikes from ties, replace ties, replace rail, drill holes in rail to insert bolts, and install joint bars.
Assist in the installation and repair of street and railroad crossings.
Clean and lubricate railroad turnouts.
Participate in group discussions, including job briefings, safety & quality meetings, and process reviews.
Assists in resurfacing and realigning of tracks.
Assist in the installation of track weld processes when required.
Cut rails and rail defects samples to specific lengths using a rail saw.
Assists in cleaning, painting, and other track/shop-related maintenance.
Participate in training classes, schooling, and correspondence courses.
Wear all appropriate personal protective equipment.
Maintaining a safe, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
Interfacing with customers and co-workers positively, professionally, and collaboratively.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Two years of related experience.
Valid Colorado Class “R” Driver’s License.
Basic math and computer skills.
Ability to read a tape measure and other measuring devices.
Ability to understand and follow verbal, visual, and written communications.
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Customer support operations will require shift flexibility. The candidate must work shifts varying from morning, afternoon, evening, and overnight. Weekend and holiday hours may also be required.

Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the above, the following qualifications are preferred:
Two years of track repair/maintenance experience.
Experience reading and comprehending safety manuals, operating and maintenance. instructions, test materials, drawings, schematics, and procedure manuals.
One year of Heavy Equipment operation.
One year of welding/torch cutting experience.
