Description
Under general supervision, coordinates the transportation of raw materials and/or finished product with approved vendors/carriers and resolves delivery issues with customers and/or carriers.

Reviews shipping orders and requirements
Coordinates shipments with customers
Analyzes inventory reports and shipment requirements to ensure customer demand is met; coordinates with Quality Assurance
Contacts vendors/carriers to obtain information concerning price, availability and delivery date
May support one or more specialized areas requiring an increased depth of knowledge
Reviews information from vendors and recommends or schedules shipment within limits of delegated authority
Maintains records of the number, weight and volume of items shipped, cost and delivery status
Approves bills for payment within limits of delegated authority
Compiles, analyzes and reports statistical data to site and Supply Chain Management
Performs other duties as required
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Three (3) years of expediting, logistics or shipping experience
Knowledge of the principles and practices of shipping and dispatching, and basic purchasing methods and processes
Skilled in researching and gathering information related to vendors/carriers, contractors, equipment and supplies
Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Preferred
High School diploma or GED
Criteria/Conditions
Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
Work is primarily performed in an office setting
Occasionally work will be performed in a mine or manufacturing plant or outdoor setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see
Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 30 pounds) during the course of the workday
Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, or manufacturing plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
