Job Description : Vice President, Distribution (Americas): Become the Newest Member of the VF Family
The Vice President of Distribution (Americas) role provides strategic planning and engineering support for the Distribution, Network Strategy and Engineering functions in VF North America. This position supervises the analysis and interpretation of business data that will assist the Vice President, Supply Chain Operations (Americas) in the development of long-term strategic plans on distribution center locations, size, and operating characteristics; responsible for key business deliverables and metrics for the facilities under their remit; drives and oversees people development, identification of top talent, helping create growth and development plans for our talent, at the same time creating a culture of learning and improvement; leverage industry information and best practices on material handling technology/operational innovation and recommends improvements to our operations; leads efforts to identify cost reductions and process improvements to meet business service requirements; drives and oversees network studies and business case to create capacity; owns and oversees new distribution center capacity creation (greenfield); and develops and maintains strategic plans for all systems that support the distribution, strategy and engineering functions and serves as the central coordinator between distribution and GBT.
How You Will Make a Difference:
Oversees the development of Corporate and brand level Project plans and assists in their execution.
Maintains plans and proposes changes to the distribution network strategy for VF North America including analysis of acquisitions and recommendations to reduce or expand the network.
Oversees comparisons of business requirements versus DC capacity and recommends changes.
Oversees the development and design of DC layouts to ensure maximum efficiency and throughput.
Coordinates with brand VPs and GBT in the selection and implementation of new or upgrade systems.
Acquires and maintains knowledge of material handling equipment (MHE) technology across the industry and recommends the appropriate application.
Oversees the Distribution Engineering organization for VF North America and ensures staffing to meet business needs.
Achieves financial objectives by establishing objectives, developing budgets, controlling costs, and maximizing use of assets.
Provides staff with opportunities for growth and talent development through classroom training and hands-on participation in projects across coalitions and geographies.
Create an inspiring experience for the distribution organization by being people-focused, evolving the organizational structure and talent practices, maximizing the potential of leaders and partnering across VF to influence the collective business performance.
Communicate business strategy, vision and purpose across the Americas distribution network and among key stakeholders.
Develop effective communication strategies and facilitate impactful change.
Be highly inclusive by advocating for inclusivity, diversity and equity among the distribution organization and throughout VF, driving accountability for representation of different perspectives and leading with trust.
Skills for Success:
Years of Related Professional Experience: 15+ years
Educational/Position Requirements:
15 years or more of progressive experience with five to seven years of managerial experience
Prefer 10+ years as Vice President/Senior Director Engineering or Vice President/Senior Director Distribution
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Industrial Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree preferred; equivalent years of experience in a substantially similar industry may be considered in lieu of a degree
Strong understanding of large-scale distribution operations in the footwear and apparel business
Ability to lead highly technical teams to achieve business and project objectives
Experience with network analysis, site selection, facility design/layout, and MHE evaluation/selection
Demonstrated ability to develop a network strategy
Proven ability to plan and execute major and complex projects
Effective oral and written communication skills
Strong PC skills
Team player with an ability to lead and motivate others
Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:
Extensive travel by air and overnight in U.S., Canada, and Mexico, as required 75% amount of time.
Salary Range: $216,000.00 USD – $324,000.00 USD annually
Annual Incentive Eligibility :
This position is eligible to participate in VF’s Annual Incentive Plan. Incentive Plan awards are contingent upon (1) achievement of your individual objectives and (2) VF achieving its’ Corporate and business level financial objectives.
Long Term Incentive Eligibility :
This position is eligible to participate in VF’s Executive Long-Term Incentive Plan.
