Here’s a summary of responsibilities:
The United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) is looking for a dynamic and servant leadership-oriented individual to lead and manage the USOPC training centers where Olympic & Paralympic dreams begin and talented athletes live and train. Currently, the USOPC has two Olympic & Paralympic Training Centers (OPTCs): one in Colorado Springs and one in Lake Placid. Between these two locations, over 15,000 athletes train every year. The USOPC also has nine outside partnerships with independent Olympic & Paralympic Training Sites, which also serve Team USA athletes as they pursue their dreams.
The Vice President must have the leadership and visionary capacity to help evaluate the capacity of existing facilities and to help vision an ecosystem of training environments for Team USA athletes. In partnership with USOPC Sport Performance, this role will also help assess the needs of the National Governing Bodies (NGBs) and Team USA athletes to evaluate potential new partnerships to satisfy unmet needs. The Vice President should also inspire USOPC employees, also referred to as the Team Behind the Team, to provide the best environment for athletes’ success both on and off the field of play.
The USOPC is seeking an individual with a background and experience in sports administration, team leadership and management, and athletic training facility oversight, all coupled with an athletes-first mindsight to lead the Team USA training ecosystem.
Here’s how you’ll have an impact:

Create a culture of innovation, passion, teamwork, support, and transparent communication throughout all aspects of the two Olympic & Paralympic Training Centers. Model the USOPC culture of excellence and well-being in the operations and management of our Training Centers.
In partnership with USOPC Sport Performance, work closely with the various sport National Governing Bodies to ensure training facilities are providing the optimum training and development environment for both resident athletes and the thousands of athletes that participate in camps at USOPC facilities. Partner with High Performance Teams regarding sport allocations and utilization of the CSOPTC and LPOPTC.
Provide direct leadership to a team of integrated functions in Colorado Springs that includes food service, transportation, program management, venues operations, resident athlete life, and visitor center and public tours, as well as third party vendors who service Team USA athletes. Serve as leadership liaison to Sport Performance and Athlete Services teams for on-campus services, including sports medicine, strength and conditioning, sport sciences, and high-performance programming.
Provide leadership and oversight to the Team Behind the Team serving at the Lake Placid OPTC. Provide direct supervision of the Director, Lake Placid OPTC.
Develop and oversee the operating budget for the CSOPTC and LPOPTC. Monitor financial performance of all departments to ensure budget compliance and operation within approved budget guidelines. Liaise with LPOPTC Director on the LPOPTC’s financial performance.
Work with function leaders in the routine personnel management responsibilities of the CSOPTC to include staffing requisitions, job descriptions, and performance appraisals. Manage administrative requirements of personnel matters, such as new hire selection, termination, and disciplinary actions. Analyze and recommend position changes or restructure as appropriate. Support LPOPTC Director with all routine personnel management and matters.
Monitor athletes and programs to ensure they comply with CSOPTC and LPOPTC policies and procedures and adhere to the OPTC code of conduct. Conduct appropriate follow up and closure of any infractions with NGB staff and/or Coaches.
Promote a healthy and safe living environment for all athletes, including oversight of all SafeSport efforts at both the CSOPTC and LPOPTC.
Anticipate and act upon operational needs of the CSOPTC and liaise with the LPOPTC Director in the areas of capital improvements, deferred maintenance, programming, and services. Recommend course of action to Chief of Business Operations. Collaborate with FMD team as needed to facilitate capital expenditures and projects.
Serve as primary point of contact to various USOPC divisions on issues pertaining to the CSOPTC and LPOPTC. Work closely with High Performance Teams, International Relations, Facility Management, Risk Management, Legal, and Security to ensure that projects are appropriate, well-planned, and do not interfere with the mission of the OPTCs.

Here are the skills and experience you’ll need to be effective:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent work experience
10+ years of sports business administration or sports-related experience
Proficient in overall management, organization, administration, financial control, and personnel supervision
Successful business management and strategic development experience

Here’s some more information you need to know:

Hiring Pay Range: $147,500 – $175,000 per year
This is a full-time, exempt, position intended to work 40 hours per week.
Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program at a 25% target. This program is subject to change or elimination by the USOPC at any time at its sole discretion.
