Job Description : District School Board of NiagaraInvites applications for the following position:Human Resources Wellness Advisor Temporary 1 Year Contract Reporting to the Sr. Human Resource Services Manager – Wellness, the Human Resources Wellness Advisor is responsible for the administration and maintenance of consistent attendance and disability claims management across the Board. This role has select work from home flexibility and employs best practice principles in disability case management, early intervention, safe return to work and workplace accommodation to work in partnership with employees, supervisory staff and union representatives.Essential Job Duties, include, but are not limited to: · Managing and facilitating workplace accommodations and return to work planning for all occupational (WSIB) claims in accordance with collective agreements and best practices;· Liaising with WSIB and Health Professionals as needed i.e. Specialty Clinic Assessments, FAE providersWSIB and WSIAT appeals preparation and participation· Assistance in identifying needs, assessing, and understanding medical restrictions, communicates options to facilitate early, safe return to work (RTW) and stay at work (SAW) plans.Reviewing vocational and functional assessments to determine employee’s fitness for work and alternate work assignments;Working closely with employees, supervisors/administrators, Unions and health care providers to provide employees with a safe and timely transition that allows them to either remain at or return to work;· Collaborating with all parties to ensure timely return to work;Assisting Wellness Team in creating positive relationships with regional resources to provide wellness supports to staff;Leading special projects and initiatives related to employee Wellness;Developing materials, communicate Wellness initiatives and provide training to staff;Other duties as assignedThe preferred candidate will demonstrate strengths in the following areas: Superior leadership, interpersonal counselling and communication skills, including problem solving and conflict resolution;Relationship building and promotion of a collaborative culture with all Board staff and Unions/Federations;Thorough knowledge of Board Administrative Policies and Procedures, Collective Agreements, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Human Rights Act, Employment Standards Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPA), Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), other related employment laws and regulationsQualifications include: A University degree or three-year Community College Diploma, or qualifications deemed equivalent by the Board;Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality;Professional designation such as but not limited to; Disability Management Professional (CDMP), a Return to Work Coordinator (CRTWC) or Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP/L), Human Resources Certificate, Disability Management Certificate/Diploma.Proficiency using Human Resources Information Systems;Five years or more experience with direct claims management (occupational and non-occupational) preferred;Education sector experience and experience in a multi-union setting considered an asset;Experience with IPPS considered an asset;Experience with Parklane considered an assetThis is a full-time temporary 1-year position (35 hours per week) within the Board’s Administrative Management Group which includes a competitive wage rate ($68,175 – $79,689 per annum) and a comprehensive benefits package.Applications including cover letter, resume and three professional references must be submitted via email by Thursday March 17th 2022 at 4:00 p.m. Please reference Human Resources Wellness Advisor – Temporary 1 Year Contract in the Subject line.
