SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT:

Provide leadership enabling students to develop a love of learning and to enjoy fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, psychological and physical growth and maturation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Whitefish Public Schools seeks candidates with strong character, passion for excellence and a relentless commitment to student achievement. Applicants should also meet the following minimum requirement:

Valid Montana teaching license with a K-12 Principal endorsement
Demonstrated understanding of adolescent development
Ability to relate to and work with high school age students
Ability to communicate effectively and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents/family members, teachers, support staff, supervisors, and the general public
Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from students, parents/families, staff and the community
Ability to maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

At least 3 years successful high school administrator experience
High school level leadership and teaching experience
Knowledge and experience with Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
Experience with and demonstrated ability to coordinate and supervise extra-curricular activities/athletics

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):

Provide instructional leadership in support of building level goals, action plans and the District Strategic Plan.
Work with the building principal and staff members to create a positive, proactive climate that is conducive to student learning—emphasizing mutual respect, student engagement and safety
Assist in developing, implementing and evaluating instructional programs and activities to ensure the success of all learners
Assist the principal in the supervision and evaluation of staff members as assigned
Oversee student discipline and attendance and maintain records of action taken to ensure that discipline policies are administered in a fair and just manner to maintain an optimum learning environment.
Understand and apply due process in a manner that respects adolescent’s and adult’s dignity.
Collect and analyze student discipline and attendance data to inform the MTSS Team as a means for continual improvement of programs and systems for student achievement.
Use positive behavior intervention techniques for responding to student behaviors
Counsel with students, parents and staff to resolve problems and concerns at the lowest level possible.
Actively participate as a team member during meetings with faculty, staff and administration in pursuit of educational goals
Analyze student performance data as a basis for curriculum improvement and staff development
Actively participate as a team member, role model and leader of MTSS
Supervise the development, implementation, distribution and orientation of the student handbook to ensure student awareness of the school’s policies and procedures
Work collaboratively with all schools in WSD for consistent K-12 transitions
Coordinate and collaborate with the building principal on all academic, behavioral, and extracurricular programs and activities
In collaboration with the building principal and activities director, supervise extracurricular events and activities
Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This type of work involves walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods of time as required by situations of job position. Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral and written information, the manual dexterity to move related equipment, and the skills necessary to handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.May be required to lift or move up to 20 pounds. MENTAL/MOTOR DEMANDS:

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

School year working days as set by the Board of Trustees. Salary, benefits and other working conditions as negotiated and as assigned by the Administration.

Performance of said duties will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s Policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
