DESCRIPTION
As a financial services firm, Morgan Stanley is required to ensure that data feeds for regulatory reporting are accurate at all times and processed in a timely manner to meet the regulatory reporting obligation to different global regulators.
The regulatory data control team will be responsible for implementation and ongoing management of a front-to-back control framework for regulatory reporting. This will include controls over data inputs, outputs, calculations and the resulting exception management to ensure complete, accurate and timely regulatory reporting. As part of this role, the regulatory data control team will engage with both Upstream Data Providers and regulatory report producers to make them aware that they are supporting a regulatory reporting requirement and understand the need that data feeds essential for reporting are complete, accurate and there is timely availability of data to support regulatory reporting requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
Establish data control checks to assess if the data elements used as inputs for regulatory reporting are of reasonable value and acceptable format for processing;Review outputs of data control checks to identify data quality issues or anomalies, perform its root cause and work with teams (both upstream as well as downstream) to remediate them;Accountable for monitoring that any errors or data quality issues are corrected or questions are answered by the appropriate internal groups,Ensure accurate, complete and timely submissions of reports from data control checks to the global functional leads and management,Timely escalation of anomalies and issues to Customer Supervisors and Global functional leads.Participate in workshops to identify control gaps and partner with Information systems and Global Line Operations to identify areas of improvement and strategic solutions to implement effective and robust data management tools;Assist in and/or support the creation and maintenance of data extract dashboards for real time monitoring of performance and improve workflows;Assist in building and executing the operating model to support the control framework and actively seek for opportunities to enhance the existing framework.Participate in Requirement drafting and User Acceptance Testing of new models/reports.Ensure existing procedures are documented, maintained and complied with at all times.Prepare and publish metrics to provide transparency on control outputs and mitigated risks.Assist in creation of Management Information Reports on a periodic basis;Work with IT and / or vendors to develop and implement new data management tools to reduce risk of manual data amendment;
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate must have:-
5-7 years of relevant experience in regulatory reporting, operational risk, compliance and/or control teams;
– Strong data analytical skills – ability to gather, view and analyze all forms of information in details and view a challenge or situation from different perspectives;
Ability to interpret huge volumes of data, assess its usefulness from business context, build strategies to identify data quality issues;Effective usage of data analytical tools to perform root cause analysis of data quality issues and propose remediating controls to mitigate regulatory risks.Understand the business model and processes to identify underlying risks (both operational as well as regulatory) and improvement opportunities and propose tactical solutions;Able to drive process independently and identify improvement opportunities;Highly motivated self-starter with multi-tasking abilities;Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize workload as necessary;Team-player, with the ability to also work independently;
– Innovative and creative – able to challenge the existing processes and status quo;
Pragmatic and analytical problem solving skills;Good at taking initiatives with ability to drive projects forward to completion;Excellent verbal and written English communication skills;Attention to details and able to prioritize functions and tasks;Has the ability to absorb information and learn quickly;Strong sense of urgency, accountability and ownership and proactively escalates issues / roadblocks;
