Introduction:
The purpose of this role is to: production of monthly impairment and capital actuals, short term forecasting and production of outlooks, measurement of forecast vs. actuals performance, portfolio analytics to help understand drivers of impairment/RWAs and support implementation of new models and policies.
The work carried out within the role can be broken down into three “layers”:
1. Data – Colleagues need to have a knowledge of data sources to carry out risk measurement analyses. Detailed knowledge of risk data is required (particularly risk measurement and portfolio risk data) as well as understanding of techniques and ideas to streamline and optimise risk measurement activities and processes.
2. Analysis – Ability to carry out detailed and complex analyses to understand portfolio performance and drivers of impairment and capital.
3. Communication – Results of analyses will need to be presented to senior stakeholders (both technical and non-technical) in a clear and concise manner.
At AVP level, the colleague will demonstrate strong analytical and technical skills as well as knowledge of fundamentals of retail credit risk management, particularly across impairment and capital management. The colleague will also need to demonstrate sound management and leadership skills around communication /presentation of results and management of stakeholders and priorities.
What will you be doing?
Impairment accuracy and integrity though analytics, appropriate use of accounting/financial techniques/tools and attention to detailMaintain management information on impairment and capital metrics e.g. stock coverage ratio and capital demand by segments.Manage regular monthly/weekly impairment and capital processes that determine impairment stock/charge and regulatory capital. Carry ad hoc investigations and analysis into portfolio performance, new models and regulator/policy changes.Present and communicate results to senior management and other stakeholders.Facilitate a culture of decision making through provision of robust and accurate analyses.Embed Barclays Behaviours in personal behaviour and encourage them among colleagues.Identify any issues regarding inadequate tools or access to data and escalate as appropriate.
What we’re looking for:
A degree in an analytical/business related disciplineAbility to generate insights from data, assess the commercial / financial impact and recommend actionExtensive experience analysing programmes through the lens of risk managementUnderstanding of statistical methods to enable appropriate interpretation of resultsComprehensive knowledge and effective use of analytical tools including SQL, SASProficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPointFamiliarity with risk reporting and risk management models.
